My Mom and Grannies started teaching me when I was 5. One Gran - hand embroidery, she was from Dublin, Ireland. The other Gran - tatting, crochet and simple patchwork (born in South Africa from a Dutch mother and German father) and my Mom taught me how to knit and use the sewing machine. They did NOT believe in idle hands. That makes 58 years now !!

No. A part broke & neither Sears or any repairman could get the part! Was that little curly thingy that you ran the thread thru & it couldn't work without that! That's when I got my first Viking.

I have been sewing 61 years my grandmother was a seamstress, but do you believe me when I say she never taught me a thing. Everything I know I learned in Home Economics or from my mother, isn't that funny. Mom was just a homemaker.

About 65 years. I started VERY young. First it was doll clothes, then clothes for me and then for my children. I sewed professionally for more than 35 years making custom made draperies. Now I sew for my own personal enjoyment. I got my first embroidery machine about 5 years ago. Sewing is woven into the fabric of my life, it is what makes me ME
