My very first quilt which I have made for the Ugandan Project. My husband thinks it is wonderful, which has made my day. I made some real blunders but I am sure the little children will not mind. A big thank you to Meganne for her label and a huge thank you to Jan for making this possible. Hugs Sarah.

Thank you Chris for your comments. I wrote the name of each animal underneath as I think that the children are learning English. Sarah.

I love it, great job. You made a brave choice with the gingham; those and stripes are so unforgiving!

Thank you Martine. I did not realise when I started just how difficult the gingham was going to be, especially as they are different weights.

Sarah, Your quilt is stunning and so very cheerful, and I'm so proud of you. I know the love you put into this, and I can't tell you how much it means to me, personally, as well as for the kids. We keep hearing how horrible the conditions are for these children, and how dangerous it is for them. I don't think we can even imagine the feelings they are going to experience when something so special, so individual is given to them. Something made from people around the world who cared enough to go to all this trouble, and expense, just for them. This will be a treasure of their lifetime. God Bless YOU, Sarah as you have blessed one very special little child.
I also need to tell you how red checked gingham makes me feel. My sister, who died at age 33 of melanoma skin cancer, loved gingham all her life. We had bridesmaid dresses made of gingham, and her baby's nursery was of red gingham. I try to sneak some sort of gingham into most every project. It gives me extra joy to see the blue and red gingham you chose. It just makes this extra special for me. Thank You :-) Love and hugs, Jan

Jan - Thank you. It was a delight to do, even with a bit of 'cursing' with the blue gingham which was so flimsy. I will take the quilt to London in May and post it from there. Thank you for all your patience with me. Hugs Sarah.
by airyfairy 10 Mar 2012
I forgot to add that red gingham is very special to me. My first school uniform in UK was red gingham and both my daughters wore red gingham when they started school here in SA. I love any gingham.
