Question of the Day: which one are you & Why? when you sew something & the seams aren't quite perfect will you rip the stitches out or leave it as is & why?

Even though I am lazy I would rip the stitches and start over. Don't know why but I have always been that way. I will do any short cut possible when I am making something though but that is because it is usually just for me. I have never sold anything I have made, I either do it for myself or for unexpected gifts for the family.

I will usually take it out....I will know the error is there, and will see it every time I look at it. If it is something small, that won't affect the wear of it, or isn't visible,, I may leave a small mistake.

I WILL UNPICK THE STITCHES.THEN I WOULD DO IT OVER AGAIN. SEW IT TILL IT IS CORRECT. SOMETIMES I AM A PAIN FOR MY SELF.

Most of the time I'm making a quilt, and a small flaw multiplied over the number of seams really throws things off. So it's time to Frog--RIP IT RIP IT out.

I'm a Ripper for sure.
I like everything to line up.
If you you fix it straight away, all the next steps work better. Else you find you have to "fudge" the next steps as well.
Also when your project is finished and it looks great, except where that little seam is skew, You regret not ripping.

I too am a ripper. My Mom said everything should look as good on the inside as it does on the outside. I believe her. LOL She was a fashion designer before her time. Hugs & Stitches, Liz

I just rememered this. I once was asked to finish a quilt that someone else started. I couldn't line up my stitches to hers and so I ripped all of hers apart and started over. I lost a friend and made that quilt look better but much smaller. LOL now
I did that once, too. I even changed the backing material and the sashing! Just used the blocks.

I'm mostly a rip and re-sew until perfect type person. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to perfection, lol! When I make something to sell or give as a gift I don't like imperfect seams. I will put it down and come back to it later if I have to. Its a thing with pride in my work.

Am I the only one here that doesn't rip out everything that's not perfect?! Of course if it effects the way it looks, hangs, etc I rip it out..but if it's hidden inside, who cares! Most of my clothes are for grandkids that wear them a short time & outgrow them! If it has to match, of course you have to rip it out...as in quilts..but crafts, naw!

Its got to be perfect or I wouldn't be happy with it ,so I unpick.With all the new notions around there are many that help you avoid making mistakes eg disappearing pens that allow you to draw lines on fabric.Recently I bought a edge foot for my machine which allows me to stitch a certain distance from the seam edge

I prefer to rip and redo. When doing something for someone else it has to be perfect as I feel it reflects on me. Sometimes with something for myself or my kids I have left it if something very minor and time does not allow.

I am not a perfectionist, but I will rip it out because it will worry me to know it is not up to standard. You also battle to fit patterns in if it is not well finished off. ***

But I have a pet peeve..... I spent many years learining how to make hemlines just perfect and now everything in the stores -- tops, dresses, and skirts seem to have those pointy or uneven bottoms!.....That just aggravates me! lol lol

I am a big time ripper also. but sence I have gotten so much older I am in clined to make a lot of mistakes because of my hands, only have 2 fingers and thumb on one hand that works well.
