Question of the Day: Where do you sew? I mean what room or spot in the house is yours? & what do you call it? The room I mean.

As I was thinking about this question I was thinking of my own sewing room back home & I think that calling it my sewing room is kind of boring sew I decided to rename it to something more creative! TIA hugs Loralye

My embroidery machine is in our 2nd bedroom (since the boys are grown it has become my room), I call it the computer room and my machine is beside it sideways so I just swing my chair to the side and don't have to move it. I have a loveseat (that is covered with stuff and the cat) and TV in here but never use them. Also have a dresser (I have too many clothes)and the room is quite small and crowded.

My home/office/escape sewing room is 1/2 of the unfinshed side of our basement-the other 1/2 my husband's weight room-with the furnace in the center of it all. It also serves as my laundry room-I would love to be be in a real room but this works for me-it's Mom's domain-Trespassers will be prosecuted!!

I seem to have invaded a lot of living space.
When the children left home I suffered from 'empty nest' so began collecting more fabric, bargain sewing machines,Yarn for knitting, extra tables for the machines.
I soon grew out of my sewing room so now the lounge has Embroidery and a lot of times I need the dining room table to spread a large quilt.
Mine is usually called the "Yarn Barn".
Hugs Bev

I converted our smallest spare bedroom into my sewing room. In hind sight I should have used the biggest spare room! But maybe it is good I did not as I would just collect more stuff! By the way can you have too much craft materials?

You can NEVER have too many craft materials. What will happen if you need something at midnight/LOL Lovies.

We have a huge finished basement. One side is a TV room w/books etc... The other end of that room is my space... Sewing machine, serger, emb. machine, cutting table, ironing board, computer, storage for material, etc.. and also where I do my painting (oils and acry)- also where I make my jewelry. I call it (my crafting place)... although my husband's desk is in that end too! :)
It is usually a huge mess but no one can see it if I keep them upstairs! LOL

I have a room in the basement. It has all my sewing and craft stuff in it. I sometimes (most of the time) go to a table in the family room to do my cutting. I call it my sewing room.

My study/sewing room. When I taught it was the place with my computer and books for school plus my sewing machine. Originally where I am now was my sons bedroom. Now it is mostly all sewing stuff!

I have a spare bedroom, got rid of the bed and I am now in the process of installing storage cupboards in there. All my sewing machine, overlocker, two embroidery machines, Ironing board, supplies, materials, items of my children that I have not been able to get rid of, bowling bags of DH and more. I have the most beautiful sea views and have positioned my embroidery machines so that I can see the sea(LOL) and all the ships waiting in the harbour. Just love my room, and call it Susie's Own. Lovies.**** (I use the diningroom table as my cutting table until my room is finished. My computer is also on the diningroom table.

We remodeled the house a few years back, took the upstairs out and made it an attic space only. We also remodeled the family room into 2 spare rooms, one became a guest room and the other is my sewing room. It has been my sewing room from the start, so thats what we call it. Just wish it where bigger and finished, lol!

My youngest daughter just recently moved into her own place and now her room is my new sewing area. Before that I used the kitchen table and have for many, many years. I'm moving on up to the big times. LOL

Well, I'm lucky we have redone our master bedroom upstairs and reconfigured shelves in the built-in robes. I have a Horn sewing machine table, a Horn cutting table, ironing board permanently up!!!, wall units full of fabric and extra space with small cupboards, and the television is built-in to my Computer! So when the family can't find me, they know that I'm in "Chris's Cave"! Love and blessings Chris

I sew in the only cat/dog-free in my house, previously a guest room. I have taken it over entirely, save the clothing/linen storage. There's no TV, but I have a computer and radio in there. God help the guests that come visit and have to sleep in the twin trundles hehe.

My dh would say "all over the #$%^ house!" lol. I have a craft room downstairs in the basement that started out as scrapbooking. Then when my son moved out I painted his room pink (so he can't come back) and moved in some of my stuff, mostly sewing. I still like to do stuff in the kitchen so I am not away from everyone or everything. So I guess I do have every room of the house. LOL

I started out calling it the Woman Cave and it didn't stick. It's still called DS room. Fits because DH took over Granny's room 4 years ago and its covered in guns and weights an still called Granny's room. Do you see an odd naming theme here? Girl room named after a boy and Boy room named after a girl...
all over sounds good to me, that's where I am, haha.

I have a room just for sewing. It is just called The sewing Room. I also have a small sunroom off the sewing room where I store stuff and have a TV and a couch where I sit to knit and trim sewing items etc. It is the best layout I have had in the 4 homes I have lived in.

I use what should be the dinning room. I like this because it's close to everything. I can cook or do the laundry while my EM is running and still hear it. Unfortunatly, I only have the odds & ends of furniture but dream of one day having the perfect sewing room. xx

Small bedrm It still has a captains bed in it(I like the large drawers under the bed) I have a large table made from a door, added legs to it. Hubby built shelves from ceiling to table top. Have lap top cp and a desk top cp in here along with my sewing desk and machine on it. Also have a printer to ea. cp. I have a large 4 drawer filing cabinet. theres a closet with shelves floor to ceiling but it's small. I have a small 4 drawer chest in here and a small table made from a wrought iron aquarium stand, it holds the thread chest my hubby made for me. This is called My Sewing Room and this is where you will find me most of the time. I have a phone in here also along with a TV(flat screen) that is mounted on the wall and can be adjusted to whatever angle is best for me to see. Sometimes my Great Grandson sits or lies on the bed with his toys or watching tv shows as I sew./Lillian

Hmm I actually have 2 rooms, one is called the Computer room, it is where my computer and Embroidery machine, Serger, and sewing machine are and also next to me is my DH whole computer system with printers and stuff we spend most of our times here and then I do have a sewing room where my material and other stuff is stored and my fold up cutting table is so I do the cutting and storing there and do the sewing and embroidering in the computer room. WELL THIS IS WHAT I HAVE LEARNED TODAY: we have mostly taken our kids bedrooms after they have moved out & we mostly call it our sewing room! Well #1 I think that we are truly blessed to be able to do this & #2 we don't really give ourselves enough credit for where & what we create! I propose we change that & I intend to do it & you can look for my answer as to how in the next post!Hugs & many ************** to all, Loralye

I seem to be a bit late in answering this. I have my own sitting room with my computer, television and sewing machines. It is called the 'yellow room'. DH asks permission to join me in the mornings for tea. LOL. Sarah.

I am lucky as we have his and hers studies with the entrances out of the main bedroom. In mine I have my study goodies when I work from home including my computers and printers, my serger and my embroidery machines. I've shelves for my fabric and special cupboards for the cotton. Drawers has all the necessary stationery and my hoops etc. When I do cutting I would use the desk in my husband's study but have to clean up immediately as he is organized and don't like my mess. My household refers to the room as moms study or embroidery room.

Oh, I do envy you girls with all that space. I live in a 2bdrm apartment. My guest room has my Embroidery machine, Serger, and Kenmore sewing machine. My embroidery machine is large so it takes a lot of space. My bdrm is large so I have a table set up in front of my window with my Bernina on it and that is where I do most of my sewing. It is a older machine, but it plows right through those thick fabrics.I cut on that table or go into my dining area and cut on the dining table. I miss my home where I had a room just for sewing. I relocated to NC and now I am in a apartment. It works ok, but sure wished I had more space. Running out of storage area too.
