As I read some of the answers to my questions I found a universsal trait! We are our own worst critic & for the life of me I can`t figure out why

We want to be perfect in all we try and do. If something goes wrong, we always place the blame on ourselves first. Hugs, Mary

I think you mean in sewing, emb. etc? I think with me it is because I have an eye for detail - and notice anything that is not just right (not only my things but other people...although I don't tell them unless they ask) If something is not just right I have to fix it...or I will see it everytime. The flaw just JUMPS OUT AT ME!

How many of you have actually just thrown an item away because you couldn't fix it to suit yourself?
With me .. more times than I like to admit!

If I can see the mistake, I just know everyone sees it also. Poor self esteem rearing it's ugly head again. and not everyone gives constructive criticiism.

Not me, I pat myself on my back.
With 5 kids all grown up, sewed clothes and cared for them, all my own housework, garden.
I have a very fortunate life now and lots of people are envious of me.
I always enjoyed my hobbies ,knitting, sewing.
Having so much fun!

It usually works that way - in most things, a persons worst critic is themselves. I think it's because if we see it or know it's there, then someone else will see it and think we did a terrible job (even though it is actually very good) and even comment on it - that makes us feel down. So, in order not to have that happen, we try to make everything perfect.

My mother always told me "If a jobs worth doing, it's worth doing properly" I guess I try to live by those words. Shirley

I would say because we are all human, and want to be perfect in everyway, not always possible. BUT....... hugs marie

I think that if we were perfect everyone else's expectations of us would always be just that! I won't ever be 100% (this is what the Neurologist's have said) (Not that I agree)but I know I don't want to be perfect & I am learning to respect even the smallest acomplishment! Thank you all for your replys, & * 4 ALL Hugs Loralye
