I was completing a project & wouldn't you know it was after midnight, nothing was open! I was never going to get it done before they arrived @ 10 am that morning! What to do....... what to do......? You see I needed more stabilizer I knew it wouldn't work without it sew in the end I used a couple of coffee fitlers stuck together! IT WORKED! I have also been stuck without the correct stabilizer & I used "USED" dryer sheets & really if you think about it why wouldn't they work? They do in a pinch! But not all in a pinch stories work well... read on.. I had to try to piece a bunch of small bits of batting together & I used our home sealer & boy did it smell! whew! that was bad & not something I would ever do again or reccommend!

PS don't forget to water everyone's garden above me! TIA Hugs Loralye
Thanks for the reminder. I'll have to remember the coffee filters and dryer sheets. Hugs & Stitches, Liz
We have 2 Super Walmarts in town both open 24 hours. If there is something I must have it's nice to know I can get it.
thanks :)
Thanks for telling about your emergency fixes. I wondered if the dryer sheets would work. Now I know. Thank-you

Not sure this is what you mean...but .....
I was making a Halloween costume for my DGD who lived in another state...I knew what size to make for her, but didn't know how long to make the angel dress. Told my DD to measure her from her neck down to her ankle. DD didn't have a tape measure (????? MY DD???) we thought about what we each had in our houses that would be standard that she could use. An egg carton! Yes DGD was 2.5 egg cartons long! It worked, the dress was exactly the right length when I sent it.

My most recent "didn't have" was green craft paint. needed some for a St Patricks's day project. What to do? Go to Walmart at midnight for 1 bottle of paint or use something else. Grabbed my green fabric, mod podge and covered my frame. It was much prettier than paint.
