I wonder if it is possible for a butterfly to be digtised with just the wings embroidered on organza or as FSL then another file to give a placement line so that the wings can be pinned in place and then to sew the anteni, head and thorax, over the center of the wings so securing them in place. this would be great for quilts and garments as the placement line would allow you to get a greater degree of positioning.
because if the placemnt line is done first and the gament is placed over the top of those lines then the placemnet line repeated the wings would be in the exact position,
sorry if i am rambling but i can see this in my mind and wanted to attemtp to explain things
one file wings> one file placement line on backing for hooping> one file placement line for wings on fabric > one file body section. perhaps its allready been done and if so where can i find it please.

When you have a suitable existing design you like you can embroider that without too much trouble. Just embroider the wings and mark the center and the vertical of the design while it's still in the hoop - a couple of pins will do. Hoop the garment carefully, place the wings, center and vertical aligned, and stitch from there.
