I purchase from Metro. Love the price and both my embroidery machines are not complaining.

I have a Bernian 730e. It is very finiky with thread. For top thread I use ISACO and have no problems. For bobbin thread, my machine dislikes OESD, YLI and now we are trying Brother. Wish us luck as my machine has been having lots of tension difficulties. I'm also getting top thread breask. I just don't know what to do. Brother is my next try. Great question.

I am so lucky - my Husqvarna Viking Designer 1 sews with whatever thread I thread her up with. She does not have likes or dislikes. If I am doing a lot of dense embroidery I use the Nebs prewound bobbins. Other than that, just any bobbin thread I have on hand.

Please don't yell at me ... I ran out of Brother bobbin thread so I tried overlocking thread. It works perfect.. The end result is a little bit stiffer but otherwise no problems. No extra lint or fluff and no breakages. Any reason I shouldn't use overlocking thread if it works? What do you think? Lyn. xx

I only use YLI unless I am doing lace. It has always worked for me. Finishing touch is also great but costly./Lillian

From New my dealer said overlock polyester, so have always used it and wind my own bobbins. I sew till the machine warns me the thread is ending, and I have not wasted any thread. The colour is cream unless it is for T shirt then I try to match the dark ones.
Only for double sided do I use emb polyester for bobbin and top. e.g. coasters.
For lace "serelon" ordinary sewing polyester for both top and bobbin.
For Redwork two threads of emb thread through the needle at once.
I don't have tension problems but will always lower the default by at least three hits on the button.
that way there is less/no puckering.
In ordinary sewing emb thread was a problem in the bobbin and I would very seldom use it then.

I'm still using the brother bobbin thread that came with my machine :)

I use Janome in my 11000 Janome machine if I am sewing a good design on a good item, otherwise a cheaper bobbin thread or overlocker thread. Shirley

I use the fil-tec in my designer 1 and have never had a problem. Not sure about using overlock (?). Is that the same as serger thread? Seems way to thick to me but yet haven't tried it as yet. Also like Olly I've never had any problems with the thread used on my machine. It just does what I want it to do.

I use prewound bobbins purchased from my dealer and have no idea what brand they are because they are in a little plastic zip bag. I get 20% off so they cost me about $10 for 20. My machine is so picky about thread that I tend to stick with what I know works. I have never tried to wind my own bobbin with this new Brother. I had a White for a lot of years and the bobbins I wound myself never worked.
