When raising your children: "Choose your battles. Some aren't worth fighting & others you can not back down." Now my daughter uses the same advise. I may not have liked my son's longer hair, but it wasn't worth fighting over...now he laughs at his high school pictures!

I always thouth my mom was a bit daft really,she was/is full of silly saying,nothing of any use really. but got to love her anyway..lol

Something practical my mom taught me was to set the table first, then even if supper is far from ready, it at least looks like food is on the way :-)

My grandmother taught me, its not the gift, its the thought that counts when someone gives you something. It may not be something you like, but the person giving it gave it out of love and/or friendship. Never turn your nose up at that, dear. After they leave quietly put it away in a box for safe keeping, it may end up meaning a lot more to you at a later date. And if it doesn't than donate it to someone or someplace where it will find a new home. But never tell the giver that you don't like something they have given you, thats just mean and rude.

As a kid my old Grandad used to tell us 'Never forget to put your brain into gear before your open your mouth. It saves arguments and hurt feelings'... and he was invariably right. It definitely pays to think first before either acting of speaking.

When something wasn't going well, my mom would say: "This, too, shall pass." It seems I remember it more now that she is gone. But it is stil true.

I remember so many things do unto others what you want dome to you, when some one gives you sompthing say thank you If you don't want it just do away with it later. rember pritty is as pritty does no matter how pretty you are if you have a nasty attitue you are ugly even. if you are ugly your personaality will cove it up and you will be prerty in other peoples eyes.there was alot more
