I up graded my pr600 for the new 10needle brother pr1000 I wasn't offered anywhere near a good price by a number of dealers so I sold it myself on eBay for a very good price. In fact about £1000 more than any dealer offered. So I would tell anybody to try it yourself

It sort of depends on a lot of different things, In CA I wouldn't have had an issue selling it out right, lots of people, lots of potential buyers. Here in AL I don't think I would...less money here for playtoys! Not so many folks that are into it, dealers might be the way to go! I don't think we ever get what they are worth (at least not close to what we think and what we paid) but it gives us a leg up on the new toy! Linda

I agree with suelyn that selling it on ebay is a super alternative to trading it in. I bought my 1st machine on ebay, loved it, used it for 2 yrs. and then sold it on ebay for more than I paid for it. I'm getting ready to sell my Ellegante 2 on ebay since my local dealer can't begin to match the price. Good luck!

I think I'd trade in my older sewing machine, and keep my embroidery machine for a back up.

I kept my machine as a backup - the dealer would not give me much for it. I tried to sell it on craigs list and only had lowball offers.

I think it depends on where you live and the dealer you do business with. I am very fortunate to have a very generous dealer. I traded in my MC9500 for the MC11000SE about 3 years ago. He gave me almost what I paid for the 9500. When I told him that, he said he knew that, I took good care of the machine, brought it in for check-ups etc. And the best part is he said I was a good customer and they take care of their customers. I was told I could only get around $300 for a trade in on my machine. I told them I will keep it or give it to a family member before I trade it in for that price.

I just bought a new machine and I kept my old one. I will use the older one as my sewing machine. This way if one goes for service I have a back up.

As with most things, you can get a better price for it by selling it yourself as a dealer will want to make a profit on it. Carol was lucky enough to get a good price from her dealer.

trade? sell? I just keep them because I really like all my machines and I' a greedy gut!!!
