ok Cuties I need your HELP! I have messed up: for the last 2.5 hrs I have been sewing what I thought was FSL Crosses for Easter Thought being the key word! It turns out they aren't Is there any way to salvage what I have I only wet one & as I was looking at it I realized the stitches weren't very close together & then it hit me! How stupid of me!

The house phone was ringing the cell was going off My dh had just walked in the door & I was STRESSED! That's what I get for not paying attention! You know when your in a hurry & just want to get things done? Well sure hope someone can come to my rescue

Were the crosses digitized as FSL? Maybe can be saved by coating with "Stiffy" which is a product used to stiffen crocheted doilies. Don't know if this all helps, but good luck!

It will dissolve as soon as it gets wet. You may have to just start over with a fsl cross. Sorry but maybe someone else has an idea. I don't think laminating them would be as nice. I hope you find a workable solution.

If all else fail , maybe you can consider to laminate them and then cut it out.

Loralye I am fixing things now! Just stitch it down to another priece of fabric. I am doing a coaster. If you can dry the piece that got wet you can do the same, I will upload pic!

Hi again. this piece is not sewn yet. I connected the lace to the fabric by spritzing the wss with water, so it took some time to dry. May not look pretty, however it will stitch well. I did screw up, in that I was only gonna fuse the middle of the fabric to the cotton sheeting below, so that I could trim and fold the fabric round. I fused it all, so it may turn out different still!

this is very pretty Christine, Sew you think that I should back the crosses with fabric & then spritz them with warm water sew that they will end up sticking to the fabric, is this right?
does that mean I should make the fabric cross with a backing sew that it won't fray?
& interfacing too?

I did this with a butterfly.... It just disappeared into a wad of string... no saving it. I don't know what to tell you except whatever you do .... don't get them wet!
Perhaps you could sew them to some netting and just cut around them?

I think this has already happened to almost all of us, so don't feel bad or stupid. I think you can remedy it only by fusing it onto another piece of material, or laminating them - although it is not the same effect, at least you did not waste your time and cotton. The recipients will still be overjoyed by your thoughfullness. Lovies.*** Happy Easter.**
