Have any of you Cuties, ever taken the drug Reclast? I recently had a bone density scan and was told I had severe Osteoporosis. I also have osteoarthritis and I knew my back was getting worse. It used to be when I mopped my house, I would be down in my back for a few days. Now, I can just get up in the morning and may be down. When I asked the rhuemotologist, if there was anything I should or shouldn't be doing, she said I could sneeze and something could break! When I told her I care for my special needs grandchild, after school, she said someone else will have to do that. What I have read on the internet about the side affects, scares me, but my sister took it 3 years ago and no side affects. She said she is due to retake it,just hasn't yet, but she also has reseverations and she is a nurse. I have recently had 2 different allergic reactions to 2 different drugs, so I don't know how I will react to this Reclast. It is given by an IV. I also know when my mom broke her leg bone (the one runs from hip to knee) by just turning over in the bed, she died from a blood clot when they did her surgery! I am scared to start breaking bones so I want to take the drug, but I am scared of the drug. Do you understand what I mean? Please pray I make the right decision, my appointment to take it is April 26, if my calcium level is up.
I am not a big fan of this class of drugs, as I experienced the side effect of jaw death.
Good luck in your decision and treatment.
I have no knowledge to give.
Sorry to hear about your Mom that must be hard for you.
My Mom had a hip replacement 27 yrs ago and she is now 86yrs and her bones are not good for standing. She does always take calcium tablets.
How is a bone density test done?
