Does anyone know when Heliconas flower ?Several yrs ago we were given some but with the drought & water restrictions some died & others just hung on but now with the horrible wet summer we have had ,there is a clump about 2m high.Its now autumn even though the past couple of days have been over 30c ,so I was wondering if I might see some flowers soon.The freesias are appearing with some of the other spring bulbs too.The weather has got the plants confused

I can only dream of seeing flowers in my area, as I live right at the tree line in the mountains. But I have to agree with you on one thing. The weather has the plants all confused, and I'm in the opposite hemisphere!!! Good luck with your flowers.

I have looked through 4 of my flower books and cannot find that name. could it possibly be known by any other name/Lillian

ok found out they are tropical and another name for them is lobster claw but could not find out when they bloom/Lillian
Thank you for looking ,you found out as much as I have.They came in various shapes & sizes producing lovely flowers.The people who gave them to me came from Cairns & we have lost touch after cyclone Larry hit a few years ago

By the way I live in Newcastle, New South Wales on the east coast of Australia and Queensland has a "wet season" different to ours. Love Chris
