Okay Cuties..anyone familiar with HoopSisters machine embroidered quilts? There is a block of the month at my dealers for their Goose Tracks quilt. It is pieced and embroidered in the hoop..with batting and backing and squares are then sewn together as you go...then they use strips on the back to cover seams. The cost for the class is $100. Anyone done any of their quilts? Not really sure I will like the look of the joining of blocks and strips on the back...looking for input! Lots of quilts on the site...Thanks.

my SIL (cutie danie) is working on one right now, I saw the squares she has made and they are beautiful. Asfaras I know, she has not sewn any together yet but they sure look good.

Yes, blocks are beautiful, but just not sure how I will like the way they are joined then seams covered with lattice strips...thanks...

Thanks for posting the links. Does her $100 cover a year full of monthly classes? If so, I think she got a good deal!

The $10 fee is for 10 classes and will complete the blocks for the quilt...except for borders..that's an additional $40...

If you go to hoopsisters and go to "how to instruction " you can download in pdf the instruction for joining block. That seem not difficult. I have sew just 3 blocks and I have not try to join it but the block sew very pleasant. Excuse my english it's poor.

I did look at all the videos and instructions for joining...I get how it's done, I just don't know if I am going to like the technique of joining prequilted and batted squares and joining as you go, then adding sashing strips to cover...

If anyone is interested in seeing the finished quilt, there is a picture on the website and also very detailed videos of each block being constructed from the beginning to the end. I was just wondering if any Cutie had done one of these yet and how they liked the joining and sashing of the blocks...I am thinking it might be kind of bulky and stiff....but not sure...

I have every quilt ITH block they make. I love them. There are a few ways you can join them when done to omit the seaming in the back. On some of my quilts I just butt the seams together and do a wide zig zag stitch. Then on some I use the method from Queen of Stitching. It takes less time and I can finish a completed quilt in about a week. I love it!

Wow, I may have to give it a try..what is the alternate joining method you refer to from Queen of Stitching? Also, when you zig zag your blocks together, how do you cover the zig zag stitching...with strips...and if so, do you machine stitch down or sew down by hand or ??? Thanks...

I went to the site...It's called Queen of Stitching...there are instructional videos to watch the block joining, as well as blocks built in the hoop...very interesting...Videos really help!

In 2010 I did a 10 month session of classes making the Star Compass Quilt, mine was making 8x8" blocks into a
48" square quilt. I loved the class, learned a lot about my machine, as I had just bought it, and finished it and bought 4 more do stitch, have another one ready to put together in a different way...my own creation...
This is a picture of the one I made in class...I love the hoop sisters patterns, stitches and they are sew easy, want to do another but in different colors. See photo below of one made in class.

If you enlarge this picture you can see the wonderful stitching that is done on this quilt. It looks so much better than this picture shows...I embroidered over the strips so they match the rest of the quilt. I started this quilt after one week of getting my Janome 11000SE out of the box. It is easy enough for anyone to do.
