my new digitizer came with this question, one of which I have never even considered? I did buckle up my machine sew I'm sure I will continue to do sew but as for the insurance............who knew?

Definitely a seatbelt or some other form of restraint. I don't fancy an item of that weight hitting me in the head if I were to stop in a hurry, apart from the value of and personal attachment to my machines!

I don't have special insurance for my machine (other than a maintenance plan). I have a big wheelie case that it fits in and it rides in the back of my SUV (it is heavy enough that it does not move around).

Mine gets buckled or put where it cant move. It has insurance on it. You brought up a very good questions.

My machines are insured, I have them attatched to a serge protector when in use. In the car the smaller is held in place with a seat belt. The larger machine fits in the boot/trunk only and is covered with something soft and padded as is the other machine. The machines only leave the house when off for a service

I never thought to use a seat belt. It sits still on the floor of the van - it's heavy. It also only leaves for servicing. I would never be able to lift it up onto the seat - too heavy - would have to get someone to do it for me. I don't carry extra insurance on it, but it is included in my household ins., but it wouldn't hurt to check and make sure there would be no problems or if they need extra info for it.

Good question. I never thought about this before. Things not buckled do tend to go flying on an impact collision no matter how heavy they are. I need to start doing this.
Hey but I do have them in my will for when I die. Seriously....The lawyer thought I was being funny when I told him to include my machines.

I think that most of us would have some type of house insurance that may cover some of the cost but I wonder just how much? I would like to think that I would be able to replace them if something was to happen to them? i have extra coverage because my machine took me forever to save up for & if something were to ever happen to it i would be devestated! you should definately get it

Check on the Insurance cover because they don't always pay the full price on claims and the software with the dongle( to run digi software) and the laptop are very expensive to replace too.
Don't put them in the same laptop case when travelling.

I put my machine in the boot (trunk) or on the floor in the cabin, figure it can't fall anywhere then. :-)

I bought a carry bage (one with wheels) that I put my embroidery machine in when traveling to class. Our seats in the van go up and their is a perfect spot for the bag to sit. No I don't have insurance on my machine, I have never thought to insure it separately.

Working for a dealer, we actually ask the customer if they want their machine buckled up:) Also at home we have electronics and computers and sewing machines sew we have extra coverage on the insurance.
