Hello ladies I'm sure this isn't as original as I think but I am a bit of a clutz and keep dropping my nice little embroidery scissors and then the darn tip bends and I can't clip the threads as close as I like sooooooooooo after drop 10,001 I had a brain storm. I took a long piece of pretty cording, tied it to the base of my machine at the plug, then tied the other end to the scissors and made sure it wouldn't touch the floor, now when I drop em they just swing blissfully off the floor plus I don't have to bend over. Do that one time to many in a chair with wheels and you'll land you bum on the floor for sure! Wanna ask how I know that one too? ROTFLMAO

I have one of those telescoping magnet sticks for dropped metal items. It picks up things I did not even know i dropped.

I have one of those also (thanks to a cuties tip) but when dropping my little scissors the tip bends or breaks off, so this hopefully will stop that.
I have carpet under my machine, and it attracts lots of things that can later stick into socks and shoes and especially bare feet. It's dangerous in there!

great! what else did you tie , only the scissors or do you have more ties: for the pincushion, the scissors, the messure tape etc. but i must admit it's a great solution.

I have a ribbon on my stylus used on the machine screen. But I often end up on my way to bed with the thing still around my neck! So have to hunt it next time I need it!

I use a lanyard to attach my embr scissors to the cord of my sewing machine. That way you can easily unhitch them if you want to use them a slight distance away, yet they won't hit the floor when attached and you can just grab the cord and haul em back up again :)

I also have a string on a hook attached to my lint brush and some other small scissors. Very handy.

Reading these replies brings to mind a wizened old lady with a tool belt crammed full of sewing tools, scissors, tape measure, pin cushion, screwdriver, cutting wheel etc running around looking for her specs...naturally the specs are perched comfortably on her head.. hehehe.

Now I'm being serious. How about making a scissor fob which is heavier than the scissors, that should hit the floor before the points on your scissors. Worth a try. Or you could use scissor like I do which are bent when I bought them. Excellent. Shirley

tjey are bent when I buy em nice tiny points curved just right and naturally whenever they hit the ground it's always point side straight down so it bends the tiny little tip. Hopefully this will stop all that......;-)

Do not throw them away. If they have a burr on them, they are great for getting backing out of tight corners. They seem to just grasp the tiny little pieces. Does a fantastic job. Not all lost hopefully. Betty

I found the perfect sissors solution (for me!). I've bought several sets of cheap grooming scissors. Some work better than others. And, as far as I'm concerned, some work just as well as my expensive embroidery (where are they when I need them!?) scissors. They can be found most anywhere that has a nail session. If the store is large enough you'll find a nice selection in different sizes and tips. In fact, I also use them at my sewing machine. They are smaller and lighter than my "good" sewing scissors.

Those are the only ones I can use for trimming close to the Zundt lace tablecloth squares. They work perfectly.
