Dear friends; Yesterday afternoon I fell down the steps as I was coming down from the bedrooms. I missed the last step and fell on my left shoulder. I had not been feeling good and had been running a fever, I thought I just had a cold. When my Hubby helped me up off the floor I was not able to lift my left arm. Went to ER and they ran al sorts of blood 2work and xrays. No broken bones but I do have a big bruise on my elbow. When I was admitted they took my temp 102.3 I have Influenza. This was the first year I did not get a flu shot.My husband and I were placed in Isolation room.Finally was sent home late in the evening. I have to stay home and have no visitors for at least 5days. My shoulder is very sore and I have a huge black and blue bruise on my elbow. I am typing with on hand now. I am suppose to see an orthopedic Dr. this week. Welcome to my golden years

Oh my Cindy - what an ordeal - you really must have been very ill to fall like that - so sorry for all the trouble - but the good thing is - you did go to the ER and now you are getting treatment - I am assuming for the Influenza and staying home and taking care of yourself and you might be surprize with what the orthopedic says next week.

Oh Cindy, I am so sorry to hear of your problems. I hope you get over the flu quickly and that bruise will heal. As we get older, I think it is real easy to fall. Take it easy and get plenty of rest this week. Hopefully soon you will feel better. Best wishes for a speedy recovery. Hugs, Mary

I think your body is telling you it is time to rest. I am not looking forward to my first really bad fall! I have had a few close encounters with the floor and furniture and ooh it smarts! Cindy, hope you get to feeling great soon!! It is easy to lose balance and fall, when feverish and ill with a bug; a weakened state, to say the least! I, too, have just regained a bit of strength, after have a low grade fever and feeling awful for over a week, swollen glands, sinus infection, etc.! Maybe we are both on the mend now!! Yeah, youth is wasted on the young! Hubby retired and then on 3 different occasions he needed stents for his heart and I am on my 2nd bout of cancer! So much for retirement, we spend most of our days at the hospital or doctors office!

Cindy, get lots of rest. My doc insisted on me getting a flu and pneumonia shot this year. So far so goood. I hope they gave you something for the pain in your elbow. It doesn't sound fun at all, I know you'd rather be stitching! Follow Drs orders and you'll feel better soon.

Oh dear! YOu poor darling! I fell down the last 4 stairs last weekend...tripped over the vacuum hose. I will be keeping you in my prayers! (I often wonder what they mean by the Golden Years...)

So Sorrry that this happened - I fell going UP the stairs last year and damaged my left shoulder. I could not even lift my arm - the exercises about killed me, but help so that I would not have to have anything done. But, it hurts to get into our Golden Years....Getting old ain't for sissies!
