Embroidery Passbook update I got in my email. Please use this post for comments:

G'day

On the 31st of March my own website www.glennharris.com was infected with a virus, that the second Passbook was connected to my site, this also got infected.

Although the files for both sites were cleaned, i have now updated my website to the latest version and have several new programs added to ensure this does not happen again.
The singles Passbook website has now been closed - the single designs will be added to the mall.

We have spent 3 weeks now working with the hosting company and zencart trying to find if there is any malware or viruses on the main Embroidery Passbook website, and to date nothing has been found.
We did though find a problem with the newsletter, where we had google analytics ticked, this tracks who clicks what, so we can see if some designs are followed more than others.
Mail chimp did tell me this could alert some virus checkers, so we will not be using this option in future.

Also there is alot of talk out there of people that have google chrome on their pc's. Talking to one of the Lions club members last night, he got a virus after he had downloaded chrome.
I would invite you to go to this link where i have pictures of scans by reputable businesses that confirm the Embroidery Passbook is clean and free of any viruses.
http://www.embroidery-passbook.net/2/passbook_information.htm

Embroidery Passbook mall is a highly encrypted website, every cent of profit goes back into the mall to make it so. Unlike other embroidery malls that make thousands of dollars out of their designers. i and our team of volunteers make nothing. We do employ people - well really they are customers who have shown they can do a job, so we pay them to help at Passbook. This i feel is the way to build a strong foundation of any business.

Also this morning i contacted my solicitor in the USA and will begin legal proceedings against a person, who has been spreading false information and lies about the Embroidery Passbook.
I will not tolerate anyone that tries to bring us down with false information.

Lastly its great getting a free design and when we put one up within 12 hours 1000 people have downloaded it.
But, unlike the Embroidery Passbook there are websites out there that are not upgraded and do i am sure have viruses on them. Everytime you download a zip file, it has the potential to have a virus in it, so you must have your virus software check the zip file, failure to do this is to allow your pc to be infected.

Also if you have a free virus program, it will not fully cover you, i use Spyhunter daily and its very good, i also have Microsoft security essentials. Both these run scans daily.
Dont run scans once a month, do it frequently.

In essence, Passbook is a great idea, ( yep alot of work ) but we have a great selection of designs, well priced and designers who genually are looking to improve what they do to give you just a bit more.
I get several designers wishing to join the Embroidery Passbook but we only take better quality designers.

At any time if you have any questions or comments, please do email me.
Now, to get and idea how many people actually read this, i would suggest you go the the Embroidery Passbook website and in the search box type White House, this will result in one of my project designs, that i am giving away for free for a couple of days.
Best wishes
Glenn...

The only problem I have is that when I first sent an email to Emb. Passbook about the problem they said they didn't have a problem.

Remember ANY site can get a virus from mean people that put viruses out there for the fun of it. It's our responsibility to let sites know when we find one because they might not realize they have it. But it's their responsibility to take us seriously.

Also, there are lots of viruses out there. I still don't think I got the one everyone else had so I might have gotten it from a completely different site.

Just let me explain.
As you have read, it was the second Passbook site that got infected.
There were two sites; The mall, which was clean, and the singles site, with the freebies, which was the infected one.
When everyone said that Passbook was infected, I and many others checked the mall. Nothing showed up because it was clean. No infection.
The situation was taken seriously. It just took time to find the problem.

I believe I got the Smart Fortress trojan from Embroidery Passbook...either from his newsletter or the site with the free designs. I believe that if you are notified about a problem is your responsibility to check all of the sites you are running as they are most likely linked together at some point. I am glad to hear that EP has finally acknowledged that they had a problem and have addressed getting their sites secureities upgraded and fixed.

I'm glad that he is apologizing, but to me his apology sounds like it's somehow our fault. I for one don't like his attitude and have requested that I be removed from their mail list and will not be going there for any designs (free or otherwise) as there are just too many nice design sites to get good designs from and without his attitude.

Thanks for posting this sewmom. Am off of my main computer and using my laptop, as the virus software keeps 'disappearing' from it.
Don't know where i got the virus that's causing it!

THANKS SM for taking the time out to inform others of what's happening rather it be a design or a matter. As for me today is the first time returning since I received a virus. I am happy the issue was found and dealt with. I am hoping those who computers are still sick will be able to get the proper treatment.

Thanks to Glenn for responding with a follow up letter!!!

I will leave with this note to the chorus lyrics from (The Gambler by Kenny Rogers)..."You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em. Know when to walk away and know when to run. You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table. There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealing's done."
