My fix for bobbins (they are still a little messy) and easy access to my tools at the machine. I need more of these little boxes (small first aid kits), they have made life easier even though I still need to "clean" them up now and then. I need to decorate the small international coffee can, I use marbles to weigh it down and the seam ripper and machine tool fits inside. Live Laugh Download Stitch!

You have a lot of bobbins, Do you use the same colour in your bobbin as the top, I use mainly white in the bobbin, Am I doing it wronge?.
They look very nice.

I do a bit of cotton FSL, so the open cases are my 50 wt cotton. White bobbin thread is primarily used for fill work, so I am sure you are just fine!

Nice ideas. I use either an empty soup can with kleenex on the bottom, or I even have the emtpy cylinder from after 8's and then use self adhesive paper (used to be called mac tac) to cover it. I have one just for my scissors (the smaller ones) and one for pens, markers, etc.
Love your bobbin idea. I have all my reg. sewing ones on a board I made years ago (holds bobbins, jean thread, small craft pliers, pinking shears, snap button tool, etc. But the bobbins for emb. I have in a small container similar to yours but smaller - it holds about 9 bobbins (all just the white).

The polyester bobbins still are a problem, I am happy to have the cotton ones contained.

Clever ways to stash you bobbins - I can't figure out the picture on the botton - can you explain that one better - is that the lid or some sort of a liquid that they are standing up in?

That is the lid, I have accent marbles(small) to hold it down and you can see the seam ripper inside. This way I do not have to pick up, I can grab.

That is what I first thought I saw - thanks!

Exactly, now where to find more of these boxes.
by cfidl 30 Apr 2012
That is a very good question. I will continue looking.

This is a wonderful idea. School supply store has them in differet colors. They are called pencil boxes.Actually they have different kinds and sizes.
What I use is skinny tall pill boxes. They fit 10 bobbins. I stack them in a drawer, and they stay dust free and tangle free. When I get my pills at the drug store I ask the clerk to put in those boxes. Thanks for the tips. Rachel

I like how you have all your bobbins sorted and labeled. I don't have very many bobbins for my embroidery machine, but bunches for my regular machine. I will have to try something like this. Thank-you for the ideas.
