I am working in PE Design version 8. I have seen in Embird a design ungrouped/seperated and I have been trying to work out how to do it in PE design. In Embird it is possible to take each part of a design and move it about. I have got as far as moving each colour of the design about but no further. The design I am playing with is http://www.urbanthreads.com/product_details?product_id=954&category_id=6

Please can anyone give instructions to get further. Then I can dissassemble a design of mine. Thanks and flowers for replies

I think you have to cut it out in PE Design I'm not proficient enough I do have PE design 8 but need lots of practice I know Embird is a lot easier to use.

I think you can do that in PE5. I've not worked with PE8, but I'd love to know if you can. Also, does PE8 or PEnext make it any easier to do free standing lace?

I'm not sure if it is a design someone else has created. Do you have to do a "convert to stitches" to get it to work?

I've found out that PE Deign Next (which I have) wok great with making FSL. All of my lace designs have beeen done with the program.

Please could you explain how I can make a free stand lace with pe-design. Otherwise where I could find information or guide about the creation of lace designs?
Thank you!

I just need to spend more time learning how to use it. I had V5. My knowledge on PE design expands every time I need to know how to do something. This is what I would like to know at the moment. Sadly the replies have been few and its work tomorrow so its going to the back of the queue as I am now preparing work for tomorrow in my day job. Thanks for answering.

I am not sure you can do that with someone elses finished design. Sometimes you can click on the selct arrow , make a box around the design and click on edit and if the "ungroup" is not greyed out then you can select that . Then you can select each part of the design and do what you like .

Yes, you can separtate all the parts of the design, cut and paste, try a free download and see what can be done. I love the program.

Hi, you can do this in PE Design 8. You need to convert the design to stitches, if not already. This enables you to work with the design. Then Divide Stitches by Color.seperate the design by color. (Not all designs can be done this way, many designers "lock" their desins to prevent any changes being made).
If you need any help, please PM me - can help out with questions, lessons, etc.
