Hi, welcome to Cute. I have a wide selection of threads from different manufacturers. I have no favourite brand. What do you prefer?

I am way too new at this to have a favorite but seem that Pfaff pushes Robinson-Anton.

I like Metro (metroemb.com). I have a few spools of Floriania (which I also like) but majority of what I have/use is Metro. Both of my Brother machines love it. I also use the metro pre-wound bobbins.

Welcome Pookie, I use Metro, Robison Anton, Hemingworth and Sulky. Here in Australia the threads are somewhat dear, but out of them all I would have to say Metro. Love and blessings Chris, Newcastle, Australia.

P.S. Where are you from?

I am from Lincoln, AR. Where are you located in this state? I am trying to see if there are others on Cuties who live within driving distance to me.

Welcome Pookie, I use different threads for different pieces and machines. Lady Di(Husky) uses Metro Poly 40 wt. Big Brother Campden uses Madeira Rayon 40wt. and ConnectingThreads cotton 50wt. It also depends on what I am making. I like choices.

But my favorite is cotton - the easiest to work with, however you have to increase your design size by 5% if it is dense. Most designs are made for 40 wt.

I always use Metro thread. I've tried coats and clarks from walmart but it isn't as good as Metro and my machine doesn't like it. Metro has a nice sheen to it. It's also reasonably priced and service is quick.

Sue, welcome to the CUTE family.

I like Metro Thread - I have many others and have come to enjoy this one the best - but will use the others as long as I have them and they don't break on me time after time.

I think you should have put," What is your machines favorite thread,". They are so picky. Ha ha.
I do have a range of Threads and some polly cotton,
on some embroidery it gives a nice contrast to mix.
But I have to know what my machines like, and if you can afford Metro it seem the best you can get.
Hugs Pam.

I agree - even though my machine and I are new to each other, it doesn't seem to like Madiera very much.

I love Metro thread, and my new machine also. If your machine like it, it is the cheapest that I could find, it has very fine colours

My machines favorite threads are Isacord and Florini......just won't tolerate anything else, especially rayon.
I just took over 100 spools to my cousin who has a baby lock and it uses anything! (That includes 20 spools of Metro that I purchased after Christmas and my machine just spit it out!) :)

What machine do you have
by mjdg 10 May 2012
I have a 780D Brother. It does all I want to do...has a 5x7 and 4x4 hoop, just very cantankerous about the thread.

I agree with justsew -- what threads do our machines like? Sometimes they are so picky. :)

I have 2 babylocks and like anyone who has embroidered for years and years, I think I've tried almost every brand available. After trial and error, and my machines grumping about some (they hate Sulky), I finally settled on Metro for most designs. I love Kingstar and Jenny Haskins' metallic; and for 3D projects where I need to burn off excess stabilizer I use Mettler Rayon.

Welcome to our Cute family. We're glad you're here with us.

Since I have been at this a while there are not many threads I have not tried. The one my machine really doesn't care for is Sulky. Why I do not know. I have a Babylock Ellegante 2 and it does well with most every thread but that one. I like RA, Metro, most Radient even the Coats & Clark, Isacord, YLI bobbin thread, you name it I have tried it even the Tetrex, no problems with thread./Lillian

I am a Metro Thread gal and love their pre-wound bobbins, too! Although I do like the Madera metallics...Metro doesn't have metallic thread. I have a Baby Lock Ellisimo and have had no problems.
