Help! I wanted to embroider this for my mom, but the design is so dense! My thread is breaking constantly. Is there anything I can do to decrease it? I'm using a size 11 needle, and size 40 thread. Any suggestions?

Hi Jenn, It's a beautiful design! Was it from Emb Lib? They can be really dense. Does your machine allow you to enlarge it? Sometimes you can enlarge by 5% on the machine - if you have the larger hoop. Your mom will love it. We have just had these little ruby throated hummers arrive this week! Hugs, Jan

It is from Emb Lib. I can enlarge it, but then it won't fit on the pillowcase. And, it isn't available in a smaller size!

If you enlarge in software without adding stitches, you can then reduce back down to proper size, and reduce stitches...that might help. Linda

I wondered if that would work. I love the design, but I've ruined one pillowcase already. I'll just test it on that one. Thanks. I'm still such a newbie!

I've found many designs I get from Embroidery Library are dense. I often float an extra piece of tear away stabelizer under my hoopedfabric and stabelizer. Sometimes it gives it just enough stability not to break needles or cause birds nests.
Good Luck!

The design is lovely,I am glad you asked the question,It shows all designers are different and you really need to test stitch,I would have used a finer embroidery or microtex needle size75 less trouble going through the work.

I think you might be able to split the design so the male is on the left and the female is on the right.... so they would be side by side, kind of....

You have some good answers here. It is a really lovely design. I have found some Emb Library designs need to be enlarged without adding extra stitches. Best of luck with your pillow case. Shirley

All designs from EmbLibrary are too dense for my machine, so I always have to increase the size by 10% in machine, then I don't have any problems.

Let us know what EmbLibrary tells you.

Emb library told me that it was never a good idea to resize any design, no matter what. So not much help there, 'cause I'm too stubborn to leave it alone!

I have already bought some designs from emblibrary. Only once I had a problem with them so far, the one with an owl. All the othes sewed fine. No probs with my brother. Love their designs !

I have a Brother too, and I love it. I have bought many designs from Emb Library, and any problems I had were my own fault. They're so pretty
