as some of you may or not remember I have been doing a little bit while my machine is embroidering, I find it helps to pass the time if it is a design that takes a long time

I do regular hand embroidery and counted cross stitch. This is a picture of the last one I did that got first place ribbons in two fairs.

Did lots of hand embroidery and counted cross-stitch - since I was a child. I stopped doing it years ago because of eyesight and hand issue. Love being able to do things like it with my embroidery machine now.

I, like you, jumped right into machine embroidery. I did however do a hand cross stitched picture maybe 20 years ago but it was my one and only.

I always used to do hand embroidery. I made many tablecoths, runners, pillowcases etc. I had to give it up due to eyesight and arthritis in hands. I made every one of my 11 grandchildren hand cross stitched quilts when they were babies. I kind of miss it. Hugs, Mary

I did a lot of hand embroidery, but due to a fall and a break in my thumb followed by aggrevated arthrites am not able to hold a needle for any length of time. So that is when I decided to go on to machine embroidery. Here is one of the pieces I hand embroidered.

I had done some hand cross stitch when I was youger. But now, my embroidery machine gives me the possibility to make and finish many works, and i do not undertake any hand embroidery

I haven't done a lot, just a little bit. And now I have found ME and SI like it better.

I did. Still have several of the things I AND my mother made. From clothing to wall art. Crewel, cross stitch, emb...we did it all. Even did "chicken scratch" on checked fabric. But no longer due to crooked fingers from arthritis. Do good to sew a button on!! I'd love to do more cross stitch, but just can't any longer.

I've done every kind of hand needlework that I know about. Needlepoint, crewel, x-stitch, regular hand emb., Brazilian emb.,ribbon emb, knit,crochet, etc. etc. I still crochet some and even add a little hand emb to some machine emb designs once in a while, especially the ribbon emb.
Machine emb. is so much faster, but you can't beat a really good hand embroider piece. Just something about it.

I did hand stitching and still have it undone somewhere. Lol. So much easier by machine. Quicker too.

I do lots of hand work but only when i half to or need to :):)hugs

I learned to do hand embroidery when I was 8 years old. Never thought I was good at it because it wasn't neat and perfect enough to suit me. Then when I was 28, I taught myself counted cross stitch and got hooked. I would do it 8-10 hours a day. I can still hear my DH saying, "Are we going to eat tonight?" and I would say "just a couple more stitches Honey". I even won a grand champion award at the county fair for my cross stitch. Then I started one small project I just never finished and gave it all up. I moved on to tole' painting I guess. Now my eyes are not what they used to be so I am so thankful for my embroidery machine. hugs, Susan

I use to do cross stitch but stopped because of my eyes, getting old is hell!! I don't use my embroidery machine much for runners or doilies, instead I crochet and do some nice work. A sample of my cross stitch, my masterpiece!!

My Mum taught me to hand embroider when I was about 10 years old so I have done a lot over the years I am now 68. But my eyes are packing it in so I turned to machine embroidery about 5 years ago . I also have done Tatting and Crocheting so now I do them on the embroidery machine.Hugs Joyce

I did do hand embroidery at school. But not much after leaving school. I have a friend who does a lot of hand embroidery. She does not have a Emb. Machine. But she can take her hand Embroidery where ever she goes as she is one of those people who has to always be doing something. I take my knitting with me, but don't always do any. Shirley

My grandma taught me to hand embroidery when I was a small child and I loved it but didn't do much of it thru out my life and now I do machine embroidery and love it. Mumzyfarm

I hand embroidered 6 dozen linen dish towels for my hope chest when I was a teenager while traveling in the train to work they have wiped many a disn since then. Joyce
