I truly don't mean to post this often, really. I'm embarrassed to ask this, because I've been embroidering for several years now, but what does it mean on my PE Design to split stitches? How is it helpful?

It is a tool. I don't have PE Design but there are a videos you can watch for the uses. You can use it to split designs for multi-hooping or remove parts you don't want. I hope this helps.
