well I have been there a time or two but normally I like to get things done ahead of time. I can't handle the pressure and then everything seems to go wrong! so I just do it early & then I don't have to worry

It has been a long time since I have been in that position. I guess being retired means I have more time go organize my day and get things done. It used to happen a lot when I was working full time. Hugs, Mary

All my life! I seem to put things off thinking I have plenty of time, then find what I'm dong takes LOTS more time than I expected! For yrs. hemming my daughter's Easter dress on the way south to Granny's house!! Sometimes I have things done...but at least 50% of the time I'm rushing!

As I type my machine is carrying on with a situation exactly as you describe. I think what is more upsetting is that I need to do 2 hour designs on 16 jackets and I have already messed up one so bad I will have to go buy another. but look at the bright side. As I finish them everybody O and A around it.

I did that once on Christmas eve many years ago and shore I would never let that happen again.

Most of the time! I also seem to have lots of time to get things done and then all of a sudden other things crop up that take priority and then it's a scramble to get done what I have to. It's been a while since I had to do a rush. A couple years ago, my daughter from Barbados, had left a cushion cover for her sofa (both the sofa and chair have just cushions) with my other daughter to give to me (don't know why she didn't do it herself - but I can guess) - but she forgot about it. A family friend was going there and would be taking some things to her for us. I found out about this a couple of weeks prior to his leaving for Barbados and I had to scramble to find fabric (go into city a couple times to 2 diff. fabricland stores and take pics. of a few fabrics and send pics to her to pick something out). I was still working on the last up until the last minute before we had to get out to the airport and meet up with the friend to give him the suitcase!

Amen! I mean to get it done early, but then something happens, or I make a mistake (and isn't the mistake always on the expensive stuff!) and worry and stress until I get it done. There have been a few times things were done early. Wish I remembered how to keep doing that.

I remember staying up half the nite finishing my very first maternity dress, and hemming it in the car on the way to dinner with friends! Literally moving one leg over and hemming to the other leg. I tend to get projects to do that are on deadline all the time. I work fast, am fine staying up late, but when you run the serger just a litttttle to close to the middle of your grand daughters First Communion dress the night before it has to be mailed, you learn to give yourself a little more time! That was a close one, had to sew everything but the back panel of the floor length dress together, run to Hancocks, cut, sew, hem and ship! I will never learn!!! Linda

Only the wee hours and not *all* night? I frequently do all-nighters as things take longer than anticipated or something jumps the queue!

After midnight the phone doesnt ring and everyone is in bed and out of the way . Easier for me to concentrate on what I am doing. I always wait until my back is up against the wall before I get going with projects that are handed to me that I realy dont want to do. Have to learn to say No. Joyce

I think that is when we do our best work, when the pressure is on I an known to procrastinate(?) and then work by butt off
