I have about 5 yards of handmade tatted lace, that I've had for 30 years. It was made for me by an elderly (in her 90's at the time) blind lady, her name was Fannie McCorckle (isn't that a great name?) Of course she's passed away long ago, and now I'm wondering--do I pass the lace on to my two daughters? Or do I make something to pass down to them with it on it? Any suggestions?

I think you should make them something, could you perhaps make a christening gown and use it that way . It could then be there for any grandchildren that may come along even kept for great grandchildren. It could easily become a family heirloom.

That's a great idea. Our church doesn't do christening, but we do have dedications sometimes, and that would be great to pass down. I could learn to do some heirloom-type work too. Thank you!

Isn't it funny how different people are about handmade things. I love them, but not everyone does.

I would sew something special and hand them down. You could do some doilys. embroider the middle and use the lace around the edges. Or prehaps a pillow? Around a table cloth? Hope you do something with it. Make sure to Show us pictures...Suzanne

I would make something. My D & DIL would just throw it away. In fact, I don't think they would even like something maded. They think my antiques are junk! They like the stuff from overseas better, I guess!

Im pretty sure I will make something to pass down, that hopefully won't get tossed. Both my girls sew, so I would hope that something handmade would be valuable to them.

You could use it around a family portrait or collage of pictures to hang on the wall..Something that won't be tossed in a drawer..:)
