I have been asked about how to do a burpie: Sew this is how I do it,if your interested: I buy pre-purchased diapers then I embroider a design that will suit the fabric best, then I fold & sew a seam on the diaper sides in about 2" & to that I add sashing to the top & the bottom & then the sides about a 2.5". Then I add a pc that measures the whole thing to the back & sew it inside out leaving a fist size hole & then I flip it right sides out & sew a quarter inch seam all the way around it. The fabric of my choice is flanellette because it is absorbent. If you want to make them from scratch then I use 2 layers of warm & natural for the inside & cover with a solid colour fabric (I prefer cotton, because all of the rest are natural fibers & this means they will shrink about the same) & then embroider it & then follow the same directions as above!
