I keep my Dongle, with all my USB sticks, and they are kept in a plastic drink (can) cover beside my machine, if they are upstairs they are kept in a cubby hole in my desk.
Making a cover won't stop you from misplacing your dongle. Creating a Special home for it will.
So your mission for today,
if you accept it,
is to go and find a special container in which to keep ALL your USB sticks AND your Dongle.
Then religiously put them there after you have used them.
This message will self destruct in 5 seconds.
hehehehehehe!

But I'll think about digitising an ITH dongle cover for you, it couldn't be that difficult????? Easier than losing my dongle!!! :-)))

You know the things they call Koozies' (? sp) well we have all sorts of containers called STUBBIE holders (our little beer bottles are called Stubbies) & I have a thick plastic one but since I don't drink beer I use it for my USB sticks.

well thats were it was/is now. That was the first time i took it out :(:(but next time will be different believe me hugs

BAD GIRLS! Remove them immediately!!!!
WHY?
Because if they are plugged in all the time you can become blasé about them and forget they are there and if you knock them you can break the top right off!!!
Besides that you are putting them at greater risk of getting a virus if you should contract one that infects all drives of your computer.
HEY! Not worth the risk! Hugs, Meg

Thanks, Meg, I had no clue that could happen!!!!!!

Neither did my husband, but he does now!!!
Thankfully all he lost I had previously saved to the hard drive for him because it was all his work files, timetables, financial projections, etc. His bosses would have shot him!!! :-)

Your bow looked pretty good, but fluoro would be more eyecatching -if you weren't so hooked on purple, of course, LOL. It'd need to be a pretty small design to fit on a USB case. I'm sure I've seen some for lipsticks, USBs and hand deodorizers somewhere. Here are a few options...

How about this Carolyn?
It's all in the hoop, made to fit USB's/dongles, etc, with a little hole to thread the mini lanyard (attached to your dongle) through, so it won't fall out.
Since it is your request you need to Email me with your format, so you can be the first to have it and test stitch it.

by meganne 24 May 2012
Don't think it would fit. LOL!!!

This is pretty neat, Meganne. The crying 'o' is a good touch and I like the wave edge at the top as well.

I can sympathize I keep my dongle firmly pluged into the computer and there it stays! Can't lose it if you don't move it.......;-)

One other suggestion, Carolyn, would be to buy an extension "pigtail" to plug your dongle into. Then it is not so small anymore and thus, hopefully more difficult to lose. Congrats and hugs. Nan W

I also have a "pigtail" attached to mine so it would (hopefully) not be easy to lose.

I never leave my dongle in when I'm not at home - if there is a burglary and your computer is stolen, so will you dongle be. I have a small pouch that I keep it in and lock it away when out. Too precious to loose.

$2.00 http://embproject.com/catalog.php?page=13&category=22

I keep all of mine in an 8x4 mesh/screen breathable zip bag, which lies flat and 15" from my laptop. When I travel it goes in my purse.
So many ways to do things!

My dongle lives in a little orange flowered box along with all my usb sticks. The dongle also has a keyring tag which was on it when I bought the program, and it says void if removed. I only plug the dongle in when needing to use the digitizer.

Again, so glad your dongle is back! I keep my dongle in a padded USB case made to hold 2 USB sticks. It has little plastic slots inside to hold USB sticks (or my dongle) and has about a 1 inch ring attached to the top that I slip the dongle chain and tag into...Hope this makes sense...then I keep that in a USB cippered case that I put my embroidery USB sticks in...then I zip it up and keep it safe. I have a routine never to leave my dongle or a USB stick loose..always put in the case and zip it up. I love the dongle tag that meganne has made for you below! If it becomes available to Cuties, I will have to add it to my case!

You should attach one of those big fuzzy pompom's to it. I know someone that had one on their car keys and it was great.

I am so glad you found it.

Last week I boxed up my old 'trade-in' software and carried it to the local UPS store to ship to Wilcom. I had done all the paperwork online so all I had to do is drop it off. The young man that accepted the box asked me what was in the box. (I think homeland security requires that now.) When I told him it was digitizing software and 2 dongles he laughed and said 'most people don't even know what dongles are'. I didn't say anything but I thought to myself how wrong he was. We all know what they are and how expensive they are too.
