A gift to my hubby's niece who is getting married in a few weeks. It's my first tablecloth, I bought the blank tablecloth and napkins from All Blanks and embroidered the centre, the four corners and the napkins. The central design is about 50 cm (20" approx)wide. Rose design by Cathy de France, Monograms and embroidery onto the napkins from Sonia Showalter Designs. I have used the placement designs from Mops (Martine) for the napkins and the corners of the tablecloth. My Hubby has requested the monograms to be embroidered as well, to personalize the tablecloth. At first I did not want to embroider them but when I found the little rose monogram from Sonia, I thought that it could blend in. The tray is from Georg Jensen, from Denmark.

This is the rose design, from Cathy de France, I have embroidered in the four corners, using the placement lines from Mops.

Correction: ...the tray is by Georg Jensen from Denmark.

Thank you, Jerseygirl. I have hooped two layers of water-soluble vilene in my 200x360mm hoop and placed the tablecloth on top. I have used many, many pins to keep the fabric in place. I have embroidered the central design in three hoopings. I will upload a picture in a few minutes.

Thanks, it looks so smooth. I have cloths waiting for me to take the plunge, but I've been hesitant for fear the designs would not lay flat.
by lidiad 24 May 2012
I understand that you have been hesitant... I was terrified of doing this job that I have never done before.

This photo shows the tablecloth placed onto the hoop, ready for the third part of the design to be embroidered.
I have used many pins :) You can see the shape of the hoop underneath the fabric.

Of course, the pins are placed outside the stitching path of the embroidery. LOL

You made a beautiful set, the roses are lovely and I like the tray very much. Those Danish designs have such modern, clean lines! Nice to know you could use the placement line - I find it makes life easier, don't you.

Thank you, Martine, for your nice comments and for the placement lines - yes, embroidering the designs on the corner of the tablecloth and the napkins has been very easy and saved me a lot of time.
by lidiad 24 May 2012
We have chosen that tray not only because we liked it a lot but also because the bride and groom have chosen modern-style furniture for their apartment, so it should complement their decor.
