I was looking to see where Thunder Bay is, and the first site that popped up was a news article from yesterday. What a nightmare. We have problems like this very often where I live. In fact, so much so that folks are having their houses raised a full story to avoid losing everything to flooding. I hope your homeowner's insurance will cover this. Every policy is different. Take pictures, so that you can prove what you had before it is damaged beyond recognition!!

Gosh Lucy I'm so sorry to hear of your huge losses. We got a lot of rain today too but we don't have a basement. We had huge storms which dumped a lot of water in a short amount of time.. I hope you find some of your things usable and pray your insurance covered it. Hang in there.

It's never easy, we all love our babies and have spent a lot of time and energy getting everything we want for our hobby and to see it gone so quick is heartbreaking. Please look on the other side - at least you and hubby are safe! That's the main thing.

Hi Lucy,
I am so sorry for your huge loss. My family went through the flood of the century in North Dakota and they all had basements that where flooded and a couple had their first floor flooded too. They had
sewer failure in city pumps,etc.
My Grandmother had her house condemmed and the rest had to gut out everything to the curb including drywall. It is highly toxic, you cannot save anything down there and it is a health risk so be careful. It might be wise to seek immediate help for being declared a state of emergency should open
up funds of assistance from your state. Get on the lists, check with insurance etc. In the meantime,
if possible relocate to friends and relatives for health reasons till waters subside and cleanup is done to avoid illness. My heart goes out to you and your family, on the brite side it will get better,
material things can be replaced and you are okay.
Hugs just don't seem to cover but its all I have besides prayers for you for strength and endurance
in this disaster mother nature has tossed your way.
Hang in there-The Sun will come up, the waters will recede, the cleanup will begin and a new day offers
new beginnings.

Ohhhh you poor baby. I feel for you. You are not alone and we cuties are here to give hugz when you need em. We'll keep our fingers crossed for your insurance to come thru. When the heartache eases you'll have a little fun replacing your fabrics. Know what might be fun - If every cutie sent you a piece of fabric. Minimum of a fat quarter. More if desired.

Lucy, prayers going up for you in your time of need that everything will be made whole. If your homeowners insurance is anything like it is here in the U.S. flood isn't covered. We can purchase separate flood insurance through the government. If that is available in Canada, hopefully you purchased it. If not, do what everyone has said and sign up for all of the help you can get through your government.

lucy, sorry to hear about his news. It is hard I guess to see all the things you worked so hard for, to see them dissapearing, being lost, probably in just a few minutes. And yes, then you have the insurrance.. don't kno how it works over there in your country, but here their sentence always starts with :..and how old is your machine...and do you still have a bill of that ?...and then at the end....don't have to tell you I guess, you neverr get back what you have paid for. Flood is covered, but..pray God that it is only materials an that you and your husband (and ofcourse Cat :-) are all ok)

Lucy do contact your insurance company. Maybe you have a suit with the utility company to cover sewer back up. a couple of years ago my daughter's basement flooded. 10 or 12 homes in her subdivision also flooded. It was a nightmare and I certainly have sympathy for your situation. Kay

This is a horrific event in your life. I can't imagine your grief over this. Hopefully, with time, you'll be able to start to sort things out. Start by trying to connect with your neighbors and friends and try to support each other. You are not alone and I'm sure others will be willing to help you through this.
