lol ~ Guess you are going to have to stock up on mouse traps and/or boric acid. The boric acid they eat and it makes them thirsty so they go for water and it blows them up. Keep it away from children and pets though.

I got a family of mice in the house two Easters ago when visitors left the door to my sewing room open during the mice plague. The rotten things went everywhere in my sewing room. I had to wash everything in that room and rewash all the fabric and that was a huge job. We caught 13 but only one big one so I expect a pregnant mouse came in from the cold to make her nest and raise her babies.
We have the field mice around all the time, too, but not in the house. I've never heard of the boric acid idea.

There are also glue traps, d-CON mice food, and a trusty mouser cat. Sure hope you can find a way to keep the mice out.

Now, don't laugh!! It worked for me! LOL A few years back, I kept trying to catch a mouse that would be seen in my kitchen darting across the room early mornings. I tried all the regular mousetrap regimens, but it was like I just kept feeding him. Trap snapped, food gone, no critter captured! Everyone knows how I use my trusty gluegun for most everything, so this old brain got to whirling. I came up with the idea to hot glue a piece of pecan to the trap and set it! Bingo! Next morning, I had the critter! Moral to the story is: In having to keep trying hard to remove the food particle, or to keep coming back for more (as it is glued down), the mouse finally gets snapped into the trap! The best solution I have ever used for catching those nasty critters! Thought I would share it with you!

Don't laugh but this really works! Put a shallow dish of cola or other carbonated drink down where the mice run. The mice drink this then because they can't belch they implode. Gross but works the car garage where we get the cars fixed showed me this trick.
