They are pretty and probably wouldn't use them after they got decorated. Be afraid I would knock a heirloom over.
Perhaps they are not to be used - but to have in a special corner or space for a memory.

Yes, they would be - wouldn't they? Did you watch the video - she had alot of interesting things to say on it.
yes i did- i love those girls- so talented and such fun :)
Good, they are the sweetest twins I ever saw - this shoppe that Kris owns is just celebrating it's 1st year open and they have expanded it and have so much going on there all the time - I wished that Logan was closer to me - I would go ask for a job. Heheheh!

That's a fun idea. I like the last one because it looks unbreakable and therefore useable.
Thanks - now that is the right idea - find something that you are sure you will not break and make one up so you will use it.

Aren't they beautiful! My daughter Jess made me one a few years back. I still use it. I also made one for my mother that holds my grandmothers hat pins and found a few more to add to it.

Terre, it owuld be gret to see pictures of them. Thanks!
Sure I still have a pic of the one Jess gave me. I posted it probably a couple of years ago, but unable to get to it here. Will have to get it from my other computer. :P)
Just answer the question again - the upload the photo. Thanks Terre.

She has great ideas and made beautiful examples. Only thing I don't like is using hot glue to put it together. I would be afraid I'd never be able to remove it safely if I wanted to use the cup (or bowl or candlestick) for its original use again.

Thanks Martine - I wonder what you could use - so that it would be reusable - double sided tape?
That's what I would try.
I thought about that too, and wondered if you could maybe weigh it down somehow. Like attach a mini sandbag under actual pincushion.
I have done the hot glue before. And after it dries you can actually pull all of it off with no residue. At least that is what happened for me. When I am always using hot glue I use a saucer to rest the hot glue gun on.
About the hot glue - check because there are different strengths and they list what to use each one on....
Interesting comments - wonder what would be best on an old antique - just in case someone down the road thought it was worth more money than the sentimental value of a pin cushion from Grandma?
The seal on most hot glue breaks and peels away when it comes in contact with water. So I think it would be safe to use.
that is good to know
There is also a LOW TEMP glue for glue guns that works wonderfully on delicate-fragile items Charlotte :-)
thanks Charlotte.

And now I'll have to go find/buy some old silverware...lol

Old silverware?????
i used my grandmothers old silverware to make windchimes for me & my daughters.
I've seen windchimes made with old silver cutlery.. they're great, very clever.
Yes shirlene, old silverware as in the last pic... I loved that one., & there is so much for sale on ebay.

I am so sorry - I only think of silverware as cutlery - I will have to rethink that from now one - I love that last one - can't wait to see what you come up with Kitty.

What's old is new again. I made one like this for my sister about 40 years ago, using one of my grandmother's egg cups. I like the little tea cup and saucer one.
I wonder if you could get a picture of it for us? Yes the tea cup & saucer is nice.
I'll ask, but I'm sure it has probably long ago been dismantled. My sister's family was Air Force and were stationed all over the world - lot of packing/unpacking. Hot glue was not even around then and don't remember how I assembled it. I do remember using royal blue velveteen and lace. :0)
thanks for asking....

These are so pretty, I really love the first one, it makes me think of my grandmothers flower beds that were also so pretty and my great grandmother because she was always crocheing lace

Thanks - I know that is what these were meant to do - to stir up memories - so that we would make some of our own with our M, GM & GGM's things.

I love these. Such creativity. Things like this give me ideas. Hot glue is fine to remove from glass, wood, metal but, NOT fabric. Often it has left a stain on the fabric when I used it.

thanks for the info on hot glue on fabric. I hope we see lots of new projects from you soon.

This is a great idea to use some of the fine items that are left to us by our Mom's and Grandmom's. I can't wait to get started looking for things. I really enjoyed the video.

I do believe that was the original intent and such a fun project to do for another member of the family that sews, too.
