A few days ago a Cutie wanted some ideas for using up her denim stash & I saw this on this on a English show .Cut a square or rectangle shape around the back pocket of jeans, several required,& sew them together as you would for making a quilt,add a border & hang up on wall.The pockets can be used to keep small objects tidy.Number of pockets is up to you.

its called "Make do and mend" we Brits were well known for our re-cycling of clothes before the rest of the world invented the idea.
Have sewing machine, will dress well ( and make a bit on the side.)
when the "Dirndle" skirts went out of fashion my friend and i would go to jumble ales and buy them up for a penny or two and then sit and undo the seams
each skirt would yeild at least four yards of fabric x 24inch side. we made childrens dresses and shorts from them to sell on our local school playground for about 2 shillings a time.
we would take orders on one morning and have them done by the next. My dear friend recently died but our last conversation was about all the things we made so we could put food on the table and pay bills
I just hope the angles never take their robes off because my friend will gather them up to make something else out of them.

Oh Annie what a lovely story ending. I remember you telling us about you and your friend making childrens clothes. The friend I met at the sewing exibition in Birmingham recently (the one we were unable to meet) her mum was a wizz at remaking clothes. We used to have great 'sewing' chats when I was a teenager
In the 50's my grandmother did the same thing with the full skirts of dresses my mother didn't want anymore,they were some of my favorite frocks
Oh i love this kind of story it reminds me of a country song called COAT OF MANY COLORS SONG BY DOLLY

Sorry it was on a TV show called 60 minute makeover & the episode was from 2008.It was something the designer had bought costing a fair amount of money considering what is made from.If I remember correctly it had only 9 pockets

A great idea!! I used old brocade curtains and made myself a beautiful pants suite. Now one knew that it was actually old material and I still wear it after 7 years.
