I found a good tutorial I used when I tried the wing needle. I have a Janome 300E and the needle worked great.

The wingneedle designs from Threadsnsciccors and bargainembstore are beautiful. I was advised to make sure the needle goes freely through the hole in the plate and it worked fine for me.
