Do you mean the thin stuff where you peel it off paper and iron it on (by putting the paper on top if it_?
If so, I have used it on some coasters and I did not use any special needle or anything. I also use it to line car trash bags (regular sewing) with no special needle or anything.
Tips: Use one of those iron on applique no stick sheets. Put it on the bottom with the paper on the top. It lets you cut a bit bigger than your item and iron it down (with the extra hitting the no stick sheet) and then trim it up after it cools.

I have used it on thread catcher bags, coasters, etc. I used a bit longer stitch length. I have not tried washing anything to which I have applied the vinyl. Would like to hear from someone who has washed their items that have iron on vinyl on them.

sounds like you have done well with it! It is really expensive! $15.00 a meter! Today it was half off & the first time I have ever seen it! I am going to try a bib!
Yes, it is very expensive in the US too. I wait for a sale at Joann or a coupon to buy a quantity (and sometimes they are out so have to wait longer).

or is it to thick to hold
I have done the embroidery on a coaster and then put down the vinyl and then satin stitched around that without an issue (like applique-ing it on). The stuff I use is pretty thin.
the one I bought today isn`t really thin like wss but more like plastic shower curtain thick would you try it
