Isn't he just gorgeous?

Don't you agree?
OK, well I know JerriB thinks her owl didn't turn out as good as she wanted, but I happen to think it is adorable and ANYONE would be happy to own him.
I offered to send her my address, but she didn't respond to that. LOL!!!!!
What do you all think Cuties????
Isn't he Gorgeous?

I'll probably upload the eye design after I stitch it out myself as I was to see how the experiment affects the machines stitching it out so I can advise everyone who wants to download it. Hugs n roses, Meganne

I'm thinking I'll have to make me one.

Yes I think so, Ray loves him too. I have him image as my desktop and Ray said come stand back here he looks even better, and his eyes stand out so well. makes me feel mighty proud as the digitiser:-)
by jerrib 09 Jun 2012
You should be proud Meganne, the eyes are perfect. I hope others will try them once you put them here. They truly are realistic eyes. While he was here, he seemed to follow me around the room...hehehe

What a HOOT - he is so cute - wonder what the fabric is?

by meganne 09 Jun 2012
It's Minky fabric, which Jerri said was very slippery and difficult to stitch, so she was going to re-make him.
I think she should auction him here at Cute and let the bidding show his true worth. LOL!!!
by jerrib 09 Jun 2012
Too late, he has gone home with my Granddaughter, who in a couple of weeks will be moving to Seattle area. About 2.5 hours away. I live in BC Canada.
The stuffing I used also was silky which was good, but it wouldn't stay in the little ears.
by shirlener88 09 Jun 2012
Thanks both of you for the info - so happy the owl went home with the GD and is moving to Seatle. Jerri, you live closer to Seatle than I do - amazing.

Well he sat on my sofa staring at me for a week, then my Granddaughter came over. I didn't mention that I had made him for her. She asked if I would make her one, so he left with her. I had wanted to put some wings on his sides, but forgot. The fabric is a fur like Minky and was slippery to work with.
I wish you could see how Meganne's eyes sewed out, they are beautiful, but my camera doesn't do them justice. Thank you again Meganne for doing them for me.
He is about 14" around.

Hey, you know what I just remembered?
I was the owl in "The Owl and the Pussycat" when I was a real little kid at school, I even remember what I had to sing, but it would be embarrassing singing it now. hahahahaha!

There really wasn't a pattern so to speak. I had a large circular platter that traced onto Pelon and then drew in the ears and placed where I wanted the eyes. I decided when I went to make it that it was a little too small so just made the circle bigger
by shirlener88 09 Jun 2012
Jerri, you did a great job - even without the wings - next one - put the wings on or not. Hehehe! I would love to hear you sing that, too.

This was the pattern I drew, but made it a little bigger when I cut it out. As you can see I meant for him to have wings at the side, but forgot them when I sewed it together. This pattern is 12" around.
Enjoy

Yu did a great job - but as you said - you made it 2 inches larger and that made it just the right size for your GD. I am so happy she loved it and it went home with her.

Thank you all for your compliments. The pattern was very simple. I just found a platter I had that was about 12" round, traced it only tracing fabric, drew in the ears and wings and then placed the eyes where I wanted them, very simple. When I went to cut it out, I decided to make it a little bigger, so just cut the fabric bigger. Just forgot to sew in the wings when I put it together. The fabric was a fur like Minky.
The eyes Meganne did for me are perfect and he really looked like he was watching me. I know you will love the eyes and beak for your own project.

I will upload the eyes as soon as I've had a chance to test stitch them myself as I want to be sure they will stitch properly.
The Satin stitch is wider than most machines will stitch so they will be recognised as jump stitches, this is what has caused the unique pattern around the pupil that you all can't see in Jerri's photo, but you can compare the two pics below to see the difference.
The second design is the reduced 4x4 and you can see it has lost the centre satin stitch.
I know which ones I prefer. :-)
Hugs n roses to all, Meganne

After reading all your comments, I am glad I asked Meganne to digitize the eyes and beak for me. I can't wait to see what others come up with. Meganne did a fantastic job with the design. I am limited to a 4x4 hoop, but Meganne did the eyes separately so I could have larger eyes for the size of pillow I wanted.

Is she going to put them on here? I would love to make one but I also only have a 4x4. Please Meganne.

Yes, Meganne will put up the designs. I think she wanted to sew them out first.
My picture just doesn't do her digitizing justice, they are perfect.
