How old is the boy? If he has a handheld game player or an iPod or iPad then a cover with his favorite word(s) or initials would be great. Just make sure the inside is soft so it doesn't scratch the surfaces.

Beach towel, soft sided drink carrier with initials, draw string bag for overnight or laundry (depending on his age) embroider something he is interested in onto a cap, a key fob, a do not disturb sign for his bedroom door.
