Aprons for craft shows
I've started making aprons to sell at craft shows so that I'd have something less expensive for people to buy than my $90 jackets. Like others, I've been debating the pros and cons of using blanks or making my own aprons. This is a photo of a blank the second one is one I made myself. They both cost practically the same. The difference being the time it took to actually make one, but the better quality in the fabric in the one I made and the adjustable neck tie I included. IMO, I think the blank is just as good as the one I made and sure took a lot less time! I'm thinking I should make the neck time adjustable on the blank apron. Still trying to decide on that!

I made an apron yesterday from fabric that was $11 a yard! It is gorgeous fabric, but I usually triple my cost. No one is going to pay $33 for it. I might try $18 and if it doesn't sell, I'll keep it myself. Hmmm. I might keep it anyway!

Thanks! There is a store near me that I buy from and I can't beat the price online and saves shipping. But they are 100% polyester. I prefer an apron with some cotton in it so that they are more absorbent. Can't have it all I guess!

If you can buy in bulk then the blanks can be a better time saving and less expensive than by scratch.

Great work, Penny! I buy blanks if I can get the colour I want, and just and just make the neck tie adjustable too. Takes a lot less time!

Thanks! I only buy black or white. That way I don't have to worry about the colors I use in the embroidery designs I put on them. I bought a red one and I had to be careful picking out the thread. It was just added hassle for me.

Neat design. My dil uses apron when bathing kids helps repel some of the water. The youngest a water olympic game. I made her a adjustable apron just for that. So I am sure these ought to sell for the cooks and for those in need of staying little drier when cleaning kids and pets. Blanks would be my choice looking into. Wish best for you!
