It has been decided that my BRAND NEW machine has a interal problem with reading the colors & recording them, thankfully! (Its not just me or the designs) but it will be gone for 3-4 weeks or longer, I dont think I can take it for that long, Is it ok to ask for one of their one of theirs

I have never asked them as i have a second machine for that very reason .If one goes to the shop i still have another one at home hugs and great Question my friend!!

A repair takes normally 2 weeks if your machine take more than that you can ask for a loaner. I have done this before but now I have a second machine for this reason.

Since it's a defect in your brand new machine, the dealer should offer you a loaner. I know mine would. So, definitely ask them for a loaner. Hugs..Carol

I think that is a great idea! My machine was in MUCH longer that I expected last time. Wish I had thought of that. All they can do is say "no", so you never know until you ask.

Read your warrantee and purchase papers. You may be able to get a new machine and they can keep the defective one. Some purchases (where I live) allow a 30 day 100% exchange.

I would definitely ask - too new of a machine to have this big of an issue - the worst they can do is say no.

I never had that problem. I am so lucky. My repair person usually has it done within 2 days for me. But I think you have every right to ask for a loaner if it is goint to be for an extended period of time. Good Luck!! Hugs, Mary

I would ask,it's a brand new machine they should replace it instead of just "fixing" it.

Doesn't hurt to ask. I have mine in the shop right now and he is waiting for a Brother rep to come and look at it so it will be awhile. But I did not buy my machine from this guy and I know that his answer would be "NO". Anytime I have a problem my machine goes to the back of the line. If I had bought from him it would be a different story. I wouldn't go to him but he is the only Brother dealer/repair center within 125 miles. Puts me between a rock and a hard place. One day when I was there with my machine for repair he told me it would be a couple of weeks before he could get to it. Then a woman walks in and asks about her machine which she has in the car. He tells her to go and get it, that he will take a look right then. Grrrr.

The machine has been in the shop before such as tension (broken threads) and cleaning. But this is the first time it has gone to Babylock. The man that works on it has always done the work in 1 or 2 days. It has been gone for 3 1/2 weeks. And I still have another 1 1/2 weeks to wait. It broke the needle tube an casing. I did ask for a loaner and they do not do that. Peg.

If my machine was new, and I bought it from this particular dealer, I most definitely would ask for a loaner. Most dealers will probably say we do not have any loaners, but it doesn't hurt to ask!!

I have a Viking...and yes they gave me a loaner. At the time I had a Designer and they had a spare floor model. It was near Christmas and I just HAD to get things finished. A good dealer to work with for sure. Always worth asking.

It never hurts to ask for a loaner. Of course it is up to the store manager and then only if they have machines available. I know some shops will do this and others will not. So ask and good luck.

I would INSIST on a loaner...since it is a brand new machine...and not like you some how damaged it. Or it was really old and worn out. A good dealer should be willing to keep you as a customer with good customer relations.

I was offered a loan machine by my repairer! It had been in several times, and was overdue for a new part to be put in. As it turned out they fixed my machine really quick, so I didn't really need one, but I thought the gesture was fantastic!

You have a brand new machine and it's the dealer where you got it. It never hurts to try. You won't know unless you ask (even if you do have a backup machine). Will be waiting to find out how you make out.
