I need Help!! I am new at embroidery and just bought a Brother HE 1... I can use the machine just fine with the exception of using a font i bought and transferring it to the machine....I can do it one letter at a time which takes forever when writing a name... i bought the machine for the sole purpose of embroidering names on military nametapes...I was wondering if i need a program/software to do this if so which is recommended knowing that the only thing i need the program for is typing a name and importing it... I need help i never have issues figuring stuff out but i am with this one!! thanks

I'm not familiar with your machine either, unfortunately. But does it not have a couple of built-in fonts? Just FYI, there is a difference between "font" and "alphabet", and that difference isn't always made clear. A font is like the fonts on your computer, letters that can be strung together to form words. An alphabet is individual letters, usually capital letters but some have lower case to go along as well. These have to be put on in individual hoopings, or put together in some software and then imported into the machine. I sure hope someone that knows your machine comes along soon for better help. Meantime, welcome to Cute, you will hopefully find lots of help and friendship here! Hugs, Marji

I am not familiar with your machine either, but a lot of machines have a built in grid system. If yours does it makes it much easier to layout alphabets because you can use a grid line to get everything straight.

As Marji says, there is a big difference between a font and an alphabet. I'd suggest you have a look at some free software called Embroidery Fonts Plus. This is used pretty much like a word processing programme except that you specify the size of the complete design at the end of the process. It comes with three fonts and you can buy extra ones at a reasonable price.

At the bottom of the page where you downloaded this product are some tabs. One is a tutorial. It has pictures of what to do. Go slow and read. I don't have the program, but it took me a couple of times reading it to understand what to do.

In my software, I have to use the import button to add alphabets to make words when they are separate files. Maybe that will help.

WELCOME !!!
if you would like to use the build in letters, you can arange them to words and save on the machine (or perhaps USB Stick?/ card) it is in the manual on how to save words. the manual can be found on the brother site of your country. if you did get PE Lite with the machine than you can work with that.
