I've had a request to show the Bias Binding machine I purchased last Friday with Meganne, Pauline and Coral whilst down at the Craft Depot at Pennant Hills. It works like a charm and I wish I'd had one of these years ago to do my quilts. If any of you quilters don't have one - get one, they are marvellous. Love and blessings Chris
Picture 1 is the Bias binding machine opened up. Picture 2 is the box it came in. I bought an extra foot which is 1 and 3/4 wide. It came with a 1 inch foot.

That is amazing. Do you like how it works?

I guess you must, because you said it works like a charm.
Yes "Graciegirl" it works like a charm. As you can see all you do is wrap the fabric around the roller and pull it through the metal foot (use a pair of tweezers for this or a long pin to grasp the fabric) then it goes under the ironing plate and voila
thanks Chris

I have one but I still make larger bias by hand. It works lovely for sure.
Congrats on your purchase

Dear Chris
I purchased mine last year and I think it is the greatest invention since sliced bread LOL.
I absolutely love it. I make 25 yards of binding in no time flat. A necessity I think for any serious sewer.
Glad you spoiled yourself with this little beauty,
hugs
Michelle

Isn't it just the best invention for us sewers? I'm so glad I bought it. Meg's got one too if I remember, but I think she hasn't used it yet!!!!! Love Chris

Chris, here is a tip to save even more time, no need to wrap your fabric around the tube, just let it hang over the end and hold it to guide it as it goes through. Just as effective.

Dear Michelle, well that's great news as it is a bit fiddly putting it in the roller - great tip, thanks for that. Love Chris
And by doing that there is no limit as to how much you put through, you can do endless yards at a time whereas you where limited on the roller
Come to think I dont use the roller either
That's handy to know, I was wondering about buying the separate rolling machine. Jan

Does this iron the bias as it is being made? I have seen those little ones that you lead your fabric through and then you iron it on the other side.
Yes it folds and irons your bias as it goes through the machine, for double fold you then just fold in half and iron again.
Sorry been out all afternoon at elder daughter's place with Amy and Ophelie. As Michelle said it does iron the bias as it goes through the pressing plate. Love Chris

wow Chris-I was just looking at these about a week ago someplace and decided to order one from Amazon.com-it'll be here in a couple days. Jerrilyn mentioned that Walmart has them, but our store is revamping their crafts/sewing department-didn't see any on the shelves. ~linda~

Still no easy way to cut on bias. How many widths can you purchase?
Have you seen a June Taylor Shape Cut Plu s or Plus Pro? You can fold wide material on the bias to fit and cut any width strips easily using a rotary cutter in the slots. It's much easier on your hands. jan
There were a few different feet that you could purchase, but as I always use about a 2inch strip I bought the 1" foot because when you put the 2" piece of fabric through it folds down to a 1" which is great for edging something. Love Chris
And no to Janetedna I haven't seen a June Taylor Shape Cut Plus it sounds a fantastic idea. Anything for making cutting fabric easier is right up my alley. Love Chris

I'm so glad it didn't turn out to be a dud, we could have been reading about my funeral. hahahahahahaha!
(GEE I just had a thought, that would probably make a few people HAPPY, wouldn't it?)

Hi Meg, I was thinking that when I opened it up on the weekend. I think you bought yours down at the new Lincraft store at Erina or was it somewhere else? Love Chris
Yep, and it's still in the box. hahahahaha!!!
I've discovered how wonderful it is if you spread Ice Cream and Nutella on milk coffee biscuits, it soothes away all my hurts and restores my good humour to cracked. (normal, LOL!)

Yes Carolyn, the foot that comes with the box is 1 inch wide. I cut a 2 inch piece of fabric and pull that through and it comes out the correct size to put around a quilt. Love Chris

They also have a piping machine. Don't know anything about it though. I love bias binding but hate to make it (keep burning my fingers). Can't wait until I can get one of these and start sewing some of the projects I've been putting off.

A group of sisters in my quilting club showed their own version of this. They put two pins in the ironing board and pulled their bias binding through there. Once they got it folded to the right size, it folded itself perfectly for the remaining yards upon yards of binding. I was intrigued. It works. Probably just as well as this machine. What ever works for each person is the best for them. I hope you enjoy!!
