I have P.E.Design 8 only used for down loading designs up till now..I have almost completed a quilt Voilets&More by Julie Hall and would like to do Background Quilting,can I do it with PE Design,How easy is it to learn,Where would I start,or would it be easier to purchase something like Embird. any help would be welcome,

Hi Berny I have P.E.8 a long time and I still have not learned how to use it I am glad you ask this question I would love to know also.

I started with P.E.6 bought 7 because they said it was easier Then 8 and never really looked at any of them could do with one to one tuition,glad I'm not on my own,some kind Cutie might be able to help...

By "almost completed a quilt," do you mean you have embroidered just the designs on fabric? or do you have all the squares sewn together and the quilt "sandwich" basted together?

Hi,Just Embroidered on fabric still a lot of work and multi hooping with appliqué but really enjoyed doing it one corner to embroider..

The first site has a excellent CD's that take you step by step through PE design. The second two both have PE design courses. I went to the Newport sewing centre on one a few years ago. It is very close to the M4 and easy to get to. With any digitising softwear you have to spend quite a lot of time getting to know how it works and to keep practising and practising

Thank you,need to spend time with it, 4hr lesson was not enough.
The 4 hour lesson sets you off. The CD's can be gone over time and time again that are from Memories in Thread
It was 3years ago,If you don't use it,you lose it,I was looking for a quick fix...

Personally I find PED easier to use than Embird.
Learning to digitise is a rather long slow process (generally) and since you're probably looking forward to finishing your quilt you perhaps might use some redwork quilt blocks for the quilting, or if you already have a collection of filled/coloured quilt blocks with solid outlines such as black, you could just run that final colour for your quilting. I know there is a site which offers a ton of redwork and stippling blocks so I'll post the link when I find it again :) xXx

Thank you,thought of doing this but every floral block is different so need to be able to alter/change redwork/stippling on every block,hence I need to learn quick,or find something easy to use...
