2 questions. 1-is there a special needle you should use on elastic? Am doing some wrist bands from the non roll waist band elastic & have seen a few little bits of elastic peeking thru after I finish sewing. 2-non sewing:any hints on how to get rid of ground hogs? (Woodchucks in some areas) Can't shoot em as was advised as we don't have a gun & couldn't hit the broad side of the barn if we did! They are trying to wipe out my tomatos before we get any! Eat part & go on to the NEXT tomato.Eating the green ones even. Can't trap them, too smart. Tks!

LOL! I'd love to borrow your dog, but I bet you're too far away! Had someone say the other day they had ground hogs now too since their dog had died! Let's hear it for the dogs!!

She has removed our snake and mouse problem too. I love my dog! 110 pounds of protection that cannot be beat.

Mice I knew they killed..but snakes! Yikes! HOpe she didn't bring them to you! Ours used to kill moles.Sit for hrs watching the ground until it moved & she pounced & got it! Yep, dog, not cat!

The neighbors like garter snakes, they bring them home for their garden.
She took out a racoon once in her younger days.
Side note: Dogs will eat veggies too but a wire fence stops them.

Our neighborhood hawk has disappeared for some reason and the chipmonks have taken over. We used Have-A-hart traps with peanut butter to catch them and relocate to the woods. My dog has taken up the responsiblity of checking the traps and barking like crazy when we have a prisoner. Good luck. If your not against it, the hardware store should sell poison peanuts to kill them. Dig into a tunnel and drop in a few pellets, they eat them and go off and die... :0(

Will check about the peanuts! My neighbor used to shoot them, but he had a heart attack & died (the neighbor, not the ground hogs!) I'd do Have A hart for the chipmunks, but not the ground hog! They also eat all the other vegs, but are really doing a job on the tomatos! And they aren't even scared of you!! I threw some Decon in the holes one yr & they threw them back out! I swear they did!Had to pick them up before the squirrels & chipmunks ate them!

I also was going to suggest the peanuts or something like that.

Can't answer your question about the elastic though.

Just saw a news report about GROUND HOGS stealing the flags off graves in NY! They caught it on video! They have no pride! :-) Were chewing on the cloth.

Seems that we all have 'pesty' problems all over the world. Our neighbours have had baboons in their garden but so far (thank goodness) we have not had any. Hope you sort out your problem. Hugs Sarah.
