You're absolutely right, Sarah. I mentioned it to the Cutie in her post, but perhaps I should have put up a separate post as you did. Thanks for the reminder, there may be some that don't realize the problem with putting your e-mail in public places, not just here. Some of the spam "companies" actually pay people to "mine" public forums for this information, then the people who post e-mail addresses are subjected to all kinds of spam. It's annoying as all get out, and may sometimes even be harmful if the addresses are sold to people who will send out mail with dangerous links. These links will take you to unsafe sites, where by going there they can grab your personal information, and possibly compromise bank accounts, credit cards, etc. The internet is NOT a safe place, you have to be proactive in protecting yourself. Good anti-virus software for one, and common sense for another. Don't give your e-mail address to anyone except people you want to hear from, don't put it in a public place. And never, never click on a link in an e-mail unless you know where it's going. I sometimes get spam with links that SAY a real website, but when I mouse over the link and look in the bar at the bottom of the screen, the address is actually a bunch of letters & numbers, not the website the link says it is. If you must check something out from an e-mail that you don't know the sender, type the link name in your browser bar, don't click on the one provided, or you could end up somewhere you really don't want to be. I remember a long time ago a Cutie warned us about this, because someone she knew had their address book hijacked, e-mails with a link were sent to all names in the address book. Because it was someone she knew, she clicked on the link, and ended up at a porn site. Probably no damage done, but what a nasty surprise that must have been. Don't take everything on blind faith, be a little suspicious when on the internet, it's in your best interest. Be safe, hugs, Marji

Thanks for the warning to the unknowing. Sometimes we forget there are newbies to computing and we should point out some of the pits out there as well as scams that people should avoid.
