I went to open a 15kg box of Cold Power washing powder to discover it was for front loading or high efficiency washing machines & mine is top loading.Can anyone tell me what the the difference is between the powders for these machines ? I thought the front loaders used low suds formula.I can't take it back to the shop to swap it because I bought it on special after Xmas but I want to know if it will still do a similar wash.

I don't think there is much difference. Maybe the front loader suds are not as frothy, give it a try using less powder. Hugs Marg

The HE washing powders do don't create as much suds. You can use them in your top loader with no problem. However the other way around is not recommended. Hope this helps.

HE detergent makes less suds and you use it in an HE machine. You also use less of it. If you use it in a regular machine you might need more but I'm not sure. Try the amount it says to use and see if your clothes get clean or try Googling your question. My HE machine is a top loader so top or front is not the difference. It's how the machine works and how much water it uses that is the difference.

My detergent brand makes a regalar and HE that look the same except for the little HE on it. The store clerks don't notice and put them on the same shelf. I don't notice and buy a couple of each by accident.
I get surprised with a bunch of extra bubbles in my machine even after a second rinse. I bring it back to the store to exchange and find that they are still mixing up the bottles so I had a talk with the manager. The brand should change it's labeling too

I have bought a high efficiency top-loader last year and the manufacturer reccommends to use liquid, low-suds formula, the same that is reccommended for front-loaders.
It's concentrated and just a little amount is needed to wash efficiently.

What a site this is.. Not even learning about embroidery..but now also about washing machines.. Did'nt know that there is a difference in washing power for top or front loading ones. Here in Belgium we don't have a difference in that. I had a top loader washing machine and now a front loader. Still use the same power/liquid. No difference I guess..

In Australia, washing powder for front loaders are lower sudsing, so you can safely use front loading recommended powders in top loading machines.
I am actually doing that at the moment while waiting for my big front load machine to be installed.
Just remember only use the recommended amount and don't keep adding more when it doesn't suds up like your normal topload powder. I think it actually works better.

HE detergent is low suds and has enzimes in it to clean better with less water. So just use it you be will amazed how clean the enzimes makes your laundry. Suzanne
