Tool of the Arts Post IV Here are some useful tools that save time and headaches with sewing and quilting projects. The blue center tool is for fastening snaps. The red plastic is for pulling and pushing. What have you used in place of these tools. Me – safety pins work for almost anything. Lol - Happy Stitchin’! Live Laugh Download Stitch!

I'm a sucker for gadgets! I've got the press bars ( still in wrapper) I use my elastic glides, but they're generally too wide so I'll try one of several different things. It's like Christmas when I look through my boxes. Jan

I happened to be moving my tote of tools and found these. I was lucky to get the whole lot for a dime (so to speak). Anything fun in your boxes? I think I have the predecessor of binding tape makers. That's next time.

Ha! It would take me more time to find them in my sewing room than it would save using them!

LOL! These have never left the tote. I am sticking with that plan! So what do you use or do you have tricks.

These are some great gadgets - I have never seen a couple of them. I seem to just get by - with whatever is on hand when the job comes up. I use pins and long nosed tweezers.

hemastats are most useful, cuz they clamp down and then you can pull. I misplaced mine and want a new one.

I love all sorts of tools. You have a super collection, why are you not using them?

Some of these I've never seen. The blue one in the centre for snaps is different shape and color than mine. The long red item with the eye at one end is simila to a two piece tool I recently got at dollarama for putting eleastic or cording through.

I have the press bars but never use them. I got them from the clearance bin at Jo-Ann's. The rest I'm not sure of. I use safety pins for elastic; a bamboo skewer or a crochet hook for a stiletto and to turn points; dental floss threaders for threading my serger. When I was in my late teens, I inhereted my grandmother's gadgets but didn't know what they were, so they eventually got lost or tossed. To bad because I now know what some were.

Old school we are. I am gonna try those press bars. It probably would help me make a straight hem! LOL!
