Tools of the Arts Post V Braid aid and bias tape makers. I think these are old, not sure how old. Has anyone made rugs with these tools? Happy Stitchin' Live Laugh Download Stitch!

No, I haven't made rugs with them, but it looks like you would put the maybe 2" wide strip of fabric in the wide end, and it would come out sort of rolled up, with the raw edges inside, out the narrow end. That would surely make braiding fabric rugs much easier and neater, wouldn't have any strings hanging out. These are neat. Hugs, Marji

I think this would be a good use of the polyester I have. Never the cotton! It would be fun to set up as a project for a group of children.

I was looking for a workshop to go to the other day and found a Frodsham Braid club very close to where I live in U.K. I did not know they still do braid.they meet once a month,Go's to show you never know what you can find,Don't know if they make rugs with it

What a fabulous find! Looks like you are set. I just use strips when I make rugs. I have never taken the time to turn under the edges.

Excellent, I would love to see a rug you made. I would not take the time either. I remember a girl in school crocheting stockings to make a rug.

Me either! Lol! I do not have time to learn. It should go fast, but how does it hook together, I would end up with one long braid.
See the flat needle? You use it to slip under one of the braid loops and sew them together. I made chair pads! LOL. What we did with old wool skirts.
old wool skirts, I wish I had some, cuz wool would be the best for longevity.

These were for making braided rugs. Put material strips in eash metal piece Wide end first. Then just braid the material as it comes out of the metal pieces pushing the metal pieces back as you braid. THen you just sew the braid together in the shape you want. Like a round rug, an oval rug or a heart shaped rug. Hope that helps..Suzanne

The bias tape makers work great, nice even bias,fast, once you get going on them. the one that makes 1/4 inch is nice for doing a stained glass look & you can stitch it down using a double needle.

Missed the link again. Here is what is near to me and online. I also found a dangerous looking device called a needle punch. I think I will stick with machine embroidery. lOL
