well it looks like my brand new software is also on the fritz.....? I am just sew tired of the problems that I have been having with both the machine & the software. Do you think that I should take them back & ....ask for a new one or get a refund? Can I ask them to order me both Brand New all over again? What would you do?

Loralye, your dealer should be willing & able to help you with your problems. I'm assuming you have a Janome dealer, and that's where you got the machine & the software. When I got my Janome 300E & Digitizer Pro, the machine was all set up and ready to go, and there were free lessons on how to use the machine, and how to use the software. The dealer has free lessons in the software every month for those who've purchased it, and anyone who's purchased a machine there can come to the different classes on sewing & embroidery. Any time I call with a question, dumb or not, Ann or Rick will take the time to explain, or have me bring it in for a look. They've never charged me for 'the look' because usually it's just my silliness, but it does take up their time. My dealer is Super Stitch in North East, Pa USA. I'm betting your Janome dealer knows them.

I think the first thing on your agenda should be to take your machine, your software, and your computer down to the dealer & show them the problems you're having. Give them a call first & make sure the proper people are there, and make an appointment with them to come in ASAP. If they sell the software, they should have training in using it, just as they have training in the Janome machines. This must be frustrating, but take a deep breath & relax. I don't know what problems your machine is giving you, but this is why you buy from a reputable dealer, so you can get help and advice and get things working properly. Write it all down, what everything is doing, what doesn't work, and take it to the dealer with you & your machine & software when you go, so you don't forget anything. Everything's under warranty, so do it now rather than later. Take advantage of their training, let them install your software, and show them what's wrong with the machine so they can adjust it, fix it, whatever. And you should have a one on one lesson of at least an hour to learn all the features, do's & don'ts, etc. You need to first find out what the problems are & what needs to be done about them before you can ask for a new machine or refund, your dealer should be able to do this. Best of luck to you, hugs, Marji

I have done all of this in the past & they have come to my home & sat with me & tries to help I think the problem is they just don't know what is wrong with it either!
by pldc 04 Aug 2012
they had my machine for a month & then they gave it back & they said it needs a patch & that was July 20th, & Now once again my software has stopped working all together
by pldc 04 Aug 2012
& again they have told me to un-install & re-install sew many times & thet temporarily fixes the problem but then it happens all over again? I appreciate your advise but I have been there & tried that too

& as for the lessons Because my MBX is sew new the staff does not have own their own (until recently) & has no knowledge of this product. I have been told that there are now 5 of us who have this program & maybe they will have a lesson for us in the fall?

I too had the Janome 11000Se...nothing but problems! Dealer sent it back to Janome twice, Janome replaced it with a new machine...same problem. My girlfriend had same problems as I did and we bought the machines at the same time. After almost a year of problems, and three machines, my dealer refunded my money...and I bought a Baby Lock Ellisomo...WooHoo! Finally something that worked as it should! Personally feel that the new Janome 11000SE machines have a software problem and Janome doesn't know how to fix it..I have seen several complaints on line. Don't know why your MBX is having problems though...I don't have the upgrade from MB3 yet, but I am considering it. Perhaps you could contact Trevor Conquergood at Sunset Stitches and see if he has any suggestions. He did the beta testing on this program for Janome and Wilcom and he tested it for about a year before it was released. I think I mentioned in another post...he has online webinars twice a month that are incredible. Also he is starting a new "for beginners" class using MBX program. Go to sunsetstitches.com for registration information. I would say that your dealer should refund you money if they can't get the machine and/or the software to work properly...I wouldn't wait any longer...the longer you wait the more difficult it will be...

Gosh...and with what these new machines and software cost you'd think they would do a lot more testing (by several people) before they released it. I remember quite a few years ago when I got my Bernina 180 & software they didn't test enough before they released it... they rushed because they wanted it on the market to compete as quick as possible. They admitted right away that it was a mistake and I ended up with a lot of free upgrades and other things as a way of saying they were sorry. I was one of the lucky ones my machine didn't have the bugs in it like some. They never made that mistake again. I guess it all boils down to is them wanting to make money as quick as they can. Sad in a way.

I too have Janomes and my dealer went out of her way to make sure I had all of the training there was and everyproblem I had they fixed. I do not own this new machine model it sounds like they don't have all of the bugs worked out of it yet.
I teach computer and embroidery classes to the elderly and new purchasers and I can tell you right off of the bat the the Janome software is the worst out there. Now don't get me wrong I wouldn't own anything but a Janome Machine but would get rid of that software for sure!!! Everything on the market works better than it.It is always freezing up and having to be rebooted takes way too many steps and is not user or beginner friendly.

Wow, I got Digitizer Pro with my Janome 300E in 2006, & was digitizing within a week with no lessons, I thought it was very straightforward. If you use Microsoft Publisher, it works the same way. Mine rarely freezes, only if I don't 'save' often & it needs to remember too much information.
by marjialexa 04 Aug 2012
needs to remember too much information. If you're going to run digitizing software, you need a fast processor & lots of RAM, in short, a "gamer's" machine.

I also have the original Janome Digitzer on my old pc & I love it never ever had any issues with it & I still don't! My machine however is too old & not reliable it keeps freezing on me & this is why my dh bought me the new one.

It sounds like you have already done all the right things and that the dealer has no clue about what to do because they don't even have the machine. I'd ask for my money back. A lemon is always a lemon. No matter how well tested, the first of a new model always has bugs. Just ask Microsoft. It doesn't sound like no matter how nice the dealer is, they are not capable of helping you. This leaves you unable to use the machine. I'd return it.

thank you all sew much for your support, I have decided to return it to the store & have them either do what they can or replace them while I still can. Hugs & ***2all. & PS If they have to be replaced I will still buy a Janome because I think they are great & this is just a fluk!

Have you asked your dealer if they could possibally sit down with you-one on one- and go over all the instructions and actually do whatever it is you are supposed to be learning? It might take more than one session and they may have to charge you a nominal fee but if after that there are still problems they wil be able to see what is wrong and if it is the machine and software they would be more willing to replace it.

Marji's advice is good. But, apparantly you've already done that - so the next step is to see if they'll replace them and make sure everything is up to par.
I have the Janome SE and have not had any problems. I think they should make sure they know how the MBX works before selling it. The dealer here seems to have his employees up to datem, or at least the one who does the one on one and shows you how to work your machine and software - I even have her home number and email if needed.

PS - You have to make sure you have something done soon so the warranty is valid.
