Suggestion - I've just bought a pack of 14 microfibre cleaning cloths for 99p. They look and feel like felt (although a bit thinner)and come in several pretty colours. So, I'm going to experiment and use them in place of felt for a few items to test the fabric. I suppose it could have the advantage of being washable..... I'll report back when I've experimented.

I am in UK - you can buy these cloths all over the place. Markets Poundland etc. Usually about £1 a packet.
Funny enough I saw something yesterday in our version of £ store the Lira shop (although things are not a lira! - I wish!) I wondered what they could be used for; the cloths looked more like velour. Should be in UK in September so will take a walk to Poundland. By the way the finger puppets are really lovely. Eileen

Our microfibre cleaning cloths look very different to yours Sue. Would be far too stretchy for sewing - great for cleaning tho. Keep us posted with the results. Sarah.

Wow, our 'cheap' microfiber cloths at the Dollar Store look more like terry washcloths, only the loops are cut, kind of like velour only not nearly as plush. And they catch every bit of loose skin on my fingers, great for cleaning, but wouldn't work for sewing. These do look like felt, and I'm sure the advantage of washable hand puppets is amazing for the kids 7 moms. I've always washed our felt here in the USA. It's poly, not wool, nobody ever said I couldn't, so I did & it's always been fine in the washer & dryer. Ignorance is apparently bliss; who said you couldn't wash felt? are you sure these are micro fibre Sue as they look like the ones from wilkinsons that i have used for a while now in place of felt. not quite so long lasting in years but servicable and great for cards or hair slides.they come in packs of blue. pink and yellow. but are not microfibre as we all know it. poundworld. annie

I've checked the label and they are actually "mixed fibres". I've bought them as cleaning cloths before and always thought they were microfibre!
