the birthday blocks are all sent as 4inch blocks & they are the givers choice, but based on Winter Spring Summer or Fall. We will find out who made what @ the end of the year. We send a photo of what we made & our name to the recipient then. Now I have recieved all of the blocks but I have no Winter sew I can leave it as is or add 2 Winter of my own.

What I would do is take all the blocks and measure. Take the smallest and deside how big I would like the finished blocks to be, Then square them all up. Cut strips to go around each that will finish each block up to the correct size. Then sew them all in rows across then connect all the rows to make the quilt top finished. Or you know if you want them they can also be made to be askew. It turns out nice either way. I really like this one. Thank you for sharing with us.

We had the same problem with a community quilt that we are making in my quilt club. So we are going to sash each of the blocks. The smaller ones will all go in one row with a slightly wider sashing. That little amount will not be noticeable, and that way, all of the blocks will fit. With this one, I would take a scant quarter inch to save as much of the design as possible. OR, if the sailboat can be removed, lift up the edges, and let it be partly on the sashing. That would give it a 3D look. Enjoy the process!

After you add the sashing embroidery a few birds flying by close to the edge of the sail. Love the blocks that I have seen love to see it when it is finished. Happy sewing Brenda Lea
